View Full Version : Brake Light Pad

Shortly after purchasing our ZX2, the little blue pad that turns off the brake lights completely disintegrated. Fortunately, I was able to use the extra one on the pedal that I guess would be used for cruise control, and that lasted for a while, but my wife came home tonight with the brake lights stuck on again. As soon as she got out of the car, I saw the little blue pad laying on the floorboard.
Basically, I have two questions:
What is the thing actually called?
Does anybody know of a better quality one than what Ford put in?
Thanks.

The remnants of it are in the car at the moment to keep the brake lights off. It is a little blue rubber pad that is attached to the brake pedal lever. When the pedal is not pressed, the little pad pushes the pin switch for the brake lights all the way in. This turns the lights off.
I'll see about getting a picture of the little bugger, though.

Mine did the same thing. I actually just adjusted the switch to work without the pad. I don't know of any aftermarket one, but you can buy the stock blue one's at the ford parts counter.

Thank, JoshDank. I finally got a chance to look at the thing this afternoon, and there was plenty of room for adjusting the switch so it does not need the rubber pad. I guess it may cause the pin switch itself to wear out faster, but it can't be any worse than those terrible little pads.

No worries. Glad I could help.
