Green line is AC and PS deleted (with sock pulleys and not running the smooth pulley you need a 47.5 with it you need about a 50 inch belt) Thanks to TSmiley98
Red is the PS delete
Blue just AC (74.5inch belt with a FR UDP) Thanks to TSmiley98. Blue line thanks to ilarson007.
For both deletes with a powder pulley use a 45.5in belt. Thanks to ravensguildassasin
Easiest way I can think of to find belt size is take a string and rout it like the belt. Then measure it. Be sure to compress the tensioner about half way when routing the string.

would the way i drew it (blue line) work for just a/c removal? Cause mine don't work.

Looks like it should work. Alt and water pump will be turning the right direction and the tensioner would be able to do its job.. Just have to figure out what belt size to use. Easiest way I can think to do that is take a string and rout it like the belt. Then measure it. Be sure to compress the tensioner about half way when routing the string.

ok question. Y do u have to use the far left idler? Can't u bypass it like in the pic below?

Maybe its gonna slip if you dont use it?? but I think tension should be able to fix that?

It just allows for a better wrap around the alt to prevent slippage.

yes the diagram without just teh A/C will work, I think we used a 74.5inch belt with a FR UDP,

As asked by another member. How much hp does this free up, whether it be a guess or dyno. I probably wont be doing this but curious to know the answer as im sure many others are.

On the zxtuner.com website it lists that, with the MAC underdrive pulley you get a 1.75 inch shorter belt, and to do the PS and AC delete you would need to use a 47.5 inch belt without using the smooth pulley. So with the MAC UDP, doing the AC and PS delete you would just subtract the 1.75 and use a 45.75 inch belt. Right? Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Hey guys, I did this a couple weeks back. Does this post describe the new idler pulley as a ribbed pulley, do we buy a new one? I used the one that's taken off and then modified it for use on the motor. Also I used a 47.5 and did a PS and AC delete with an FR UDP

OK so I went to the part store to try to get a 45.5 inch belt. For the AC/PS delete and powders pulley and they told me that a 65 is as small as they got. Can someone PLEASE tell me where you got yours and a possible part number. Thanks all!

Yea that is the size belt that worked for me with the AC and PS delete and powders pulley. I am wondering though, what pulley are people using for a ribbed tensioner? I used one from one of the ribbed ideler pulleys but had to modd it a little otherwise it wouldnt spin.

just a warning....do not go above 48" on the belt size with AC and PS delete with powders pulley. oreilys didnt have a 48" so i had to get a 48 7/8" and now when i have my lights on at night it loves to squeel like no other. you can prolly hear it about 2 1/2 blocks away so definatly go 48" or possibly a little less.

That is what I have. A 46 and I still get a squeel at start and for a little after. Most of the time stops except off a light, then she goes again. Got a can of belt dressing in the car. I figure after enough applications it will never squeel again..hahahaha
BTW did you delete both ideler pullies?

can you just put the removed ribbed ideler where the belt tensioner is?
zx2cambo
07-09-2008, 04:34 PM
why would you want to do that? the ribbed idler is smalled than the belt tensioneri do believe.

in the op it says "new ribbed ideler" soo i thought it was to be replaced. So i guess all im asking is switch your smooth for your ribbed, then its all done?
straightupmad
07-09-2008, 04:57 PM
if you put the removed ribbed pulley on the tensioner you have to space it out with washers or spacer as the the ribbed pulley isn't offset like the smooth pulley (or doesn't have the same backing i can't remember)

the back of the ribbed pulley is different, it sticks out and when bolted flush to the motor it sits against the casting and won't turn. I took an air grinder with a coned tip sanding bit and ground it all down all the way around. Worked great. I should have taken pictures......
ZXWHO
07-10-2008, 09:39 PM
Thats what I did too. Took the ribbed pulley under the alt and ground it flat inside down to the bearing and it works fine. If you didnt it would stick out to far and not spin. I plan on having a pulley made from aluminum as soon as I get the $55 to spend. A guy here makes some sweet custom pulleys with bearing good up to 30,000 rpms....My motor will blow way before that! LOL

09-06-2008, 06:59 PM
Sorry for the bump, but I was just wondering something. For just the a/c delete would the same size belt work, if you don't have a udp? Just all stock pulleys? I'm curious as this would save me money from having to either buy a udp or an ac delete pulley.
dragon2200
09-06-2008, 07:40 PM
Same size belt will not work you need to try a 75.5" belt which should work as the FR udp is 1" smaller than stock or to be sure you can route a sting as shown and pull the tensioner half way to find out the correct belt size
Acideyez
09-09-2008, 05:14 PM
Man how in the world did you guys manage to slap on a 74.5 inch belt for just a/c delete? I tried the 75.5 which you suggested and it was WAY to big. After trying a couple different sized belts, I can confirm that the 61 inch belt fits nicely, for just the a/c delete with all stock pulleys. Job took like 2 minutes once we got the right belt, and even took it out and test drove it for awhile, getting up to 65. All gauges where fine and no noise or smells (belts rubbing etc..) where found. Took it home, popped the hood and watched it for a little while to make sure the belt wasn't walking. And it looked like a perfect fit. It also seemingly has cured my idle problem as well. My car was idling about 500 or so rpm when I was braking. Now it stays at about 1k. Also as a sidenote I didn't swap out any of the idle pulleys either. But so far it's running like a dream and thankfully no annoying loud noise from the a/c clutch bearing!! yay!! Thanks alot for everyones advice and help =D

09-09-2008, 06:45 PM
When I got the car it was idling a bit under 1k, then I had the problem with my ac clutch and it would idle about 500 or under, and would sometimes die. Now it's back to how it was when I first got it. I just assume that's normal idleing?

i think this is what you guys are doing. correct me if im wrong cause i want to delete my ac and ps this weekend.
1. (yellow line) move the smooth idler pulley to the ribbed idler pulley location
2. leave the belt tensioner pulley the way it is
should i (purple line) move the ribbed idler pulley to the belt tensioner?

the ribbed pulley on the tensioner is necessary. the smoth pulley is not, but it will keep you from burning up a belt faster.
