got sideswiped today on the way home from work. it's in a 45 zone...4 lane (2 each way)...no median. it was at 7:20 am, and the roads are usually PACKED with people getting off 3rd shift at Cat, and the management heading into work for 1st shift. i've seen this guy driving like ass before...i've taken notice to the white Pontiac G6 with handicap plates. well, today, i'm riding in the left lane, he's in the right...all the sudden..*CRUNCH*..and my car starts moving into oncoming traffic. i push the car back into his, and power through it...scraping the cars as i muscle my way back into my lane. i slow down, get behind him...call my dad and write down the plates. i try to pull over a few times, he keeps going. finally, i pulled over, called the cops, and did an accident report.

as of right now, he doesnt have anything on him since 1990...they don't know his current address...or insurance info.

damage to the car is some white paint transfer..the sideskirts are cracked and buffed down quite a ways from his tires, and my fender is dented...and the mirror is scratched up pretty good.

wow, that sucks, didn't even stop? What a douchebag. I hope they find him.. if you got his plates the DMV (OMV... whatever it is in your state) should have it.

yeah, in the zx2...i've been driving the malibu since november...NOW i drive the zx2, and this happens.

on a side note, if i get the guys insurance info...i can get the car repainted...and the bumpers will finally be done. you can't match the paint i have, so the whole car needs to be done (black with blue pearl)

What you should have done was follow him and call cops on your cell. They would find you both and pull you over.

what I would like to do in that situation would be to clip his back bumper and spin him

i don't have a bumper reinforcement...and i didn't wanna ruin my buddy club any more than it already is. but i did follow him...then 911 suggested i go back across the river to the city it happened in for the report.

i'd have suggested 911 get the cops to arrest his ass for trying to run

zxtwou2
07-02-2008, 09:44 PM
i was on the phone with 911. i called my dad (IL State Police CSI) and he told me hang up and call 911. they told me to go back into Peoria across the bridge, and patched me through to the Peoria PD...then i met up with an officer near the scene of the accident. we couldn't go to the actual scene, because it's only as wide as the 4 lanes...with a cliff on one side, and the IL river on the other.

just make sure you sit on that road every morning and watch for his car cause he probably goes that way to work every day

In certain cases the law is inadiquate, if you cant get a cop to sit there and wait for this guy for a few mornings then deal with it yourself. do something yourself, follow him to work and rip his car apart when he goes inside(sounds like he doesn't deserve the PRIVLAGE to drive) cover your face and license plate(cameras)

Who am i kidding you would get caught, it just pisses me off that next to nothing will happen to this guy and you now have to fix your car

Just curb check him on the way home today. Then pull him out of his car and curb stomp him. That is my nice way to handle the situation.

well...it looks like in IL "hit and run" is classified as involving injury or death. so what that guy did was considered "fleeing/leaving the scene of an accident" which means he did not report the accident within 30 minutes, and did not stop to exchange information. it looks like it carries a possible 1 year in jail, and $25,000 fine, and suspension of his license...but i doubt that'll happen to him.

i was involved in a hit and run in florida 2 years ago...and the only thing that happened to the guy was he spent one night in jail, and was forced to pay the deductable on his insurance when i got my check.

Jen Is right if you have his tag number you can call your DMV, but I dont know about in IL but here you can call with the tag and request the insurance information but they cannot give any personal information.

I'm sure you got the plate number and contacted your insurance already... right? Your insurance company will probably go after him to make sure he or his insurance pays up. They sure don't want to pay for this if they don't have to.

Sooooo....here what I'm thinking....We (as many teamzx2 members as possible) line one side of the road, with one "scout" (zxtwou) sitting half a mile ahead of us. Scout see's the perp, calls the rest of the Team. We form some sort of rolling roadblock when he gets to us. An unbreakable chain of escorts. We come to a complete stop on this 4 lane highway, rip the man out of his vehicle. and procede to tar & feather him.

This is as far as I made it in my plan.....IDK what next.

What if he speeds up and tries to ram through your roadblock. He sounds crazy enough to try. I think You'd be better off following him with radios and a cellphone.

Trust me, if I'm there, the only thing he would be able to do is to hit reverse and attempt to turn around and run. At that point, Uncle Escobar's got some hard pipe hittin' type peeps, who will take care of things at that point. He damn sure won't attemt to hit us. Not with me standing there with my little friends.....:biggun:

Now of course this will be in the middle of rush hour traffic so I'll have to rent a U-haul to toss his ass into. Then we'll just all disappear in to the morning traffic. No one will no any better.

After that, no body will know nuttin' and he'll be fishfood for the gators.....

This is all circumstantial of course. There is no real plan, just a thought of a plan. A plan that breaks the law. Seeing as how no laws are broken yet, this is just a plan in works.......................

update: the guy's insurance company (state farm) called me up and told me to go ahead and get an estimate at one of their body shops. i'm just worried they'll try to match the paint, and fail horribly...not wanting to paint the whole car.

they will fail! take the safe route and have them paint the whole car.

yea get plenty of pics of the paint now so you can prove a before/after comparison if need be...

zxtwou2

the only problem is....the paint job that was done was kind of shotty. there's a big run in one place...hazy spots where he burned through wet sanding in others. the roof is eggshelled. and there are a couple bubbles in the paint in some small spots. also...the bumpers have never been painted. maybe i can have them do up the estimate to have the whole car painted...and tell them i'll throw in 50 of my own dollars to get the bumpers done while they are at it...that seems honest and fair to me.
