ZX2 vs 08 Cobalt Sport

Well I have a 1998 ZX2 with a 5-speed. It's all stock except a Keman intake mod. A coworker of mine just bought a 2008 Chevy Cobalt Sport. It has the 170 hp 2.4 Ecotec with an automatic trans. We've been talking smack about racing them for a while now and we finally handled business today after work. We waited for traffic to clear on a local highway and pulled on to do race from about a 30 mph-roll. I was in second gear and I assume he just left it in overdrive. I'm not sure if he couldn't hear my horn too well but at three beeps I got the jump on him by a car length or two and he didn't pull even with me all they way until I let off the gas at about 100 mph. It seemed like he was gaining just a touch but he never got even with me. did n't think it was too bad for having 118,xxx miles and giving up 40 hp (though more like 10-20 hp at the tires with him having an automatic). All in all I was happy with my first race. I can't wait to get my UDP and throw that on and get an exhaust and try that race again...

Yeah, I can't imagine any automatic 4 cylinder would do well against a 5 speed Z. Not that a close to stock ZX2 is anywhere near fast, but it is a lot better than an auto.

my girl has one of those and they are a lot quicker from the take off then a zx2, after 30 im not so sure, if you get a good driver from a stand still he might of had you

You might want to ask Keith how his cammed S/R did against my stock 4 banger/auto GTI from a roll. :dance: Just messin'.

Good kill. You might want to try it again & let him do the 3 honks so he knows when to go. My girl has an auto Cobalt LT coupe. Decent cheap transportation & it feels like it wants to have pep, but I wouldn't bother trying to run it.

Likely if they are swapped they aren't riced. Notice I said likely and not always.
