your left and right hand and some shitty old rags then some simple green.

I don't trust the stuff that you hose down last time I did that my zx2 quit running for like a day cause of wet electrical connections.

WD-40 works well for restoring some plastics.

there is a solution that we use at the car detailing shop called Purple Power. If you can find it anywhere it work wonders. Expecailly with greese/sap/engines or plastic
Looks like the stuff on right side of photo (purple and white)

I don't see why not its just a simple degrease. ive heard of detailers using it to clean exteriors of cars so id imagine it would work great.

What I usually do is cover up all the electrical stuff with plastic bags and some tape or rubber bands. Then take the battery out and put the terminals in plastic bags with rubber bands.

Next I spray everything with simple green and let it sit for a few minutes. I use a scrub brush with a long handle to scrub the dirty areas. Then I let it sit a little while longer before hosing everything off. After hosing everything off, you may find some areas that need more simple green and scrubbing. Then when that's done, I dry everything off.

After drying off the plastic bits, I put the battery back in and take off the plastic covering the electrical bits and let the car idle for a few minutes to get rid of the excess water. Then I spray Meguiars vinyl and rubber cleaner over all the plastic and rubber stuff and rub it with a cotton towell. After that, I close the hood and let it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, I open the hood and the vinyl and rubber cleaner made everything shiny and the rest of my engine is clean and dry. You may need to touch up some of the plastic and rubber stuff with the vinyl and rubber cleaner if you missed a spot.

Foamy Engine Brite should be available at pretty much any auto store. But I use any ol cleaner such as simple green. What I do:

1) Start with cold engine - don't do this right after you've been driving and it's hot.

2) Cover battery, fuse box, air filter, ignition coil with plastic.

3) Spray down with cleaner of choice, let sit a couple minutes.

4) Hose down.

5) Done!

well, any good degreaser will work, like purple power or even the araesol cans like gunk. For the finishing touch use CD2's engine detailer, it's a silver and black can, awesome stuff, makes everything look wet.

wd-40 has the same effect, it just doesn't last as long, and that will actually make the engine get dirty 10 times faster, because road dust clings to it.

I've sprayed out my engine bay like 6 different times and each time i tried covering all the electrical stuff, and low and behold, each time i did it my car ran sooooooo terrible for like 1-2 days... I've been using the wet towel method recently... I love purple power, but it smells terrible, simply green is easier to use cause it smells good while your working. =P
