Background VR6-So my buddy picked up a 95 gti vr6 is good condition a couple weeks back with about 100k miles. Since then we have replace the rack pinion (sp), catback exhaust, radiator, a couple electronics and repainted the whole car (ourselves) including sanding, scraping, filling, etc, etc, etc, paint, clear. It also has new front tires and intake.

Background my zx2- 106k miles, 99 black mtx, new tires, always clean and no subs/spare tire to keep weight little lower. See sig for other info on car.

Race- Since the day he picked it up he wanted to race to see what the car had to work with. Finally the other night we got to race a couple times. First on the highway we did a couple three beep (horn) races which everyone i pulled about 2 to 3 cars on him from 50mph to 100mph. Then we figured maybe i was getting a jump on him so i gave him the go to accelerate from 50mph and id go once i heard his car rev up and start pulling. That race he pulled 1 to 2 cars on me from 50mph to 100mph. So finally we desided that the start was determining the winner and because he had one passanger in his car we got off the highway to do a 1/4 drag on a local farm straitaway, in which the passanger in his car got out to drop hands on the start. We both blew off our tires on the start (lol) which sucks but it was pretty even. then he missed going into second and missed again going into third. Needless to say I won without any problems that time. We called it a night after that and said we do it again sometime but that was enought beating on the cars for one night.

I don't recomend racing on public roads to others, and won't be held responsible if you do such things on your own time. Just sharing a local story, and as always let me know what you think.

Completely believeable. From the looks of the car, it was never taken care of. That's one of the ugliest MKIII VW's I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. Good kill.

ya i dont know if you guys should ever try and paint another car lol. anyways you should try playing with the clutch when you launch instead of just dumping it then you wouldn't peel out as much. also have your friend get another friend who can drive a stick. after all thet race again and then tell us how it goes.

I usually rev up to about 2,500 just before I launch, about 1/4 second of getting the clutch engaged (smooth, not a full on dump), and I get just enough spin to heat them up, and get traction a second after that. It worked out pretty well for me. I know I should probably be launching higher, but whatever.
