Taking the tranny apart...

So I just started to take mine apart last night... took the black piece cover piece off to see these lock nutes that are on the input and output shafts... they are nothched into the input and output shafts as well, the manual says I need to use an input shaft Holder to remove the input and output shaft locknuts.... do I really need that tool? are there any special tools I'll need to take this whole thing apart? It also says to discard those locknuts when I take them off... anyone know the part #'s so I can get new ones?

Pry or cut the lock notch off. Use an air gun to spin it off. Put it in gear.

turn the lever to the right and pull out, now it is first gear,,

wouldn't first gear be to the left? or are we talking about a different lever? im thinkin the one on the outside of the trans that the linkage hooks to
