Do you have a wideband o2 sensor? If not the gauge is just a pretty light show. Doesn't show you any accurate reading of anything.

i was told that it just needed to be wired to the top o2 harnest. but what probably doesnt help is that i think the o2 sensor is out. c.e.s. light popped and it reads that it needs to be changed.

Hmm perhaps. What color was the wire you hooked it up to on the o2 sensor? The thing is the gauge reads data as a voltage figure, usually from 0.1-0.5 volts. usually the higher the voltage, the leaner the readout on the gauge. The problem with this is that since its such a small spectrum that even the slightest change in voltage will send the gauge reading from pig rich to very lean. this is why these gauges tend to fluctuate so much, bounce back and forth, and generally dont give anything close to an accurate reading. basically they only help a tad if you see the gauge always stuck on lean or rich but dont tell you HOW lean or HOW rich. By then it's usually too late. It is a neat light show though.

Can you subsitue a wideband for oem, or will the ECU not read correctly? Might have to use two different O2 sensors...
