Finally decided to ditch the Tib. & get something I really want, so today, this morning, I got an 05, 350Z...I'm excited.

He came out all, "Yo, Tyler, check this out! I got you a steal of a deal, check it, we're gonna give you 5500 for your trade, 22k for the 350, plus plus plus, and it's gonna be 528 a month."...SO I laughed...after about 3 hours...I got it for 21K with tax, tags and title included, they gave me 8400 for my trade (I owed 8623 on it), and I put 2500 down, so my car payment is only 370 a month, 70 more than the Tib. And, my insurance also dropped 10 bucks a month, so it's only 60 bucks more than what I was paying for the tib.

I only have a loan for like 18,500.

Thats not bad. They didn't give you that much for your trade though. They only showed you that much.

The way it works is you look at a car. They own it for 15k, they have it listed at 20k. That gives them 5k to play with. You trade in a car that books for 5k, they give you 2k, use the other 5k they had on the listing to buffer it. So your trade looks like 4.5k, they only took 2.5k off the top, and then they sell a car they own for 15k at 17.5k. That is 2.5k profit, for the front end profit, and out of that your sales person more than likely netted $625 just for taking some time with you.

Then your trade that they now own for 2k, gets sold for 6k, and if anyone asks about it, they say it was "Shop fees". So they end up making another 4k off of you, taking their gross profit of you stopping in to $6,500. All in all a nice ride. You can't complain at the price, but they will get you coming or going. And yes, I used those numbers as an example just to give you all an idea on how it works.
