What size tweeters do you need to fit in the door of a z? someone gave me a set of 5.25" midrange tweeters and i would like to use them somehow. i cant take them back(no receipt or warranty as far as i can tell, don't even know where they were bought). They are Kickers, still in the plastic with the grills and everything you need to install them.

Have you pulled the door cubby/ speaker cover to check? Damn. In the time it took to post your question, you coulda answered yourself.
5.25" is good.
The door speakers are mid range. Not "tweeters". Tweeters are the highs. The little 1/2 dollar size ones that you run parallel with the mids.
There is no spot for tweets on our cars. You can make a pod on the front corners of the windows, or you might be able to mount tweeters to the kicker mids. My k series had that option. Our doors also hold 6.5's so you might need an adapter to fit the 5.25's. I'd us those with an adapter for the rears and get a set of 6.5 components for the door.

if you have power windows, you can install tweeters in the space where the window crank would normally be :)

Nice. Some ingenuity there.

wow i called them mid range tweeters lol, but look what time i posted that, it might have something to do with it. Where can i get an adapter, the speakers came with one but its not right i tried drilling holes to fit the stock holes in the door and its still not right its off center and looks really tacky

just make an adapter. Take an old computer case and cut it into a ring (outside = old speaker size, inside = new speaker). You know you have one that you can get your hands on. I keep some just for that kind of stuff.

oh yeah im kind of a computer nerd ive got six or seven cases laying around, but i dont know if the ones i have are stiff enough to hold up the speaker. well, now that i think about it there wouldn't be much room for flexiblilty in this (1/2"?)

make the outer part of the piece larger than the hole if you are worried about fitment. There is more than enough room. If you are nervous, use cardboard first. Good luck, don't forget to post pics if you get the install done.

go to home depot or wal mart, spend a dollar or two for some flat, or semi flat, black paint and problem solved. Or paint the adapter a different color to make it stand out, even if it is just a little.
remember pics
