Perhaps just a pipe dream at this point, but I'm thinking about buying a different car in the next 12-24 months. Am kinda between an '06 Acura RSX and one of the new '06+ eclipses.

I've seen the RSXs put up big HP numbers - have a mag laying around somewhere where two friends built two 600+ hp RSXs, and I really like the style of the new eclipse, but just haven't heard anything about it's performance.

What do you guys know/think about these two cars?

They both have 4 wheels. well they should. If they don't; I'd suggest looking for different cars.

Good man, the RSX is a nice little beast.

Question is what year? I think I read correctly that the '06 went to a shorter 6 speed transmission; anyone know if this is right?

i know its got that vtech. but i'd definitely say the RSX, i think the new eclipse looks like a mars rover

Didn't even have to tell me too :D

Simple math. 02-06 Base 2.0L 160 hp < 05-06 Type-S 2.0L 210 hp :D

But again, anyone know if I'm right in saying that in '06 they went with a 6 speed?

Eclipses are whales man. I wouldn't buy a 3,800 4cyl "sports" car.

Yeah the new eclipses are ghey. Nothing like a 1g or 2g. :D

Ok guys, mind was made a few days ago already lol :P

Help me pick a year so I know what to look for if/when that time comes plz! :D

i think all type-s are 6 speeds, and the newer the better, he said, they got better over the year

That's cool. Prolly just go for an 06' Type S anyhow.

rsx for the win, the eclipse looks good on paper, thats it. They are turds

New Eclipse's are a joke. Bloated so much it doesn't matter then V6 has 260hp.

Between your 2 choices...i would choose the RSX. Nice car but no torque and pricey due to the Acura badge.

From what I've seen they respond well to mods though right?

The new Eclipses are hideous, moreso than previous models even.

Stay far away. :D

I thought the 3g was ugly until the 4g came out, now the 3gs don't look so bad lol

From what I've seen they respond well to mods though right?

they respond well to K-pro

$995 Retail price (ECU must be sent to Hondata or authorized installer).
$1595 K-Pro with new Honda PRB ECU based off US RSX-S
$250 Upgrade an already K-Pro'd ecu for use in an 05-06 RSX (includes adapter harness and ecu modification)
$1145 K-Pro for 2005-2006 RSX includes adapter harness.
$1745 K-Pro for 2005-2006 RSX includes adapter harness (with new Honda ECU)

Be carefull if you are looking at 05-06, you will spend more money

K-pro is the way to get power out of the K-series. Without it mods aren't going to do much.

Full bolt-ons with Kpro and it's a 13 sec car, easy.

Well when/if I make this dream a reality I'd be doing a full engine build on it, striving to milk every last WHP out of it.

well then boost is the way to go, I've seen 500 hp on stock blocks, don't know how long they last on the stock block but people have done it.

Had a Modified Mag that featured two 600+ whp RSXs, don't remember the mods or if they were on stock block or not.

I love the RSX.

Its a good platform.

I like the 06+ style because of the headlight and taillight change. Regardless, I like RSX's in general.

I was looking at a pearl white Type-S the other week. They wanted $23k for it at the time and it sold for just over $21k the following week.

2005 RSX-S had the hp and tq increase from previous models, the 2006 RSX-S bumped back down to the pre-05 specs. Acura discontinued that platform because the valve springs were not manufactored to handle the high rpms and alot of motors locked up because of it. So instead of making a 2007 Model with a 6000rpm redline they just dropped the RSX.

So an '05 Type S would be golden?

ChrisK

02-04 would be best. 05-06 you will just be paying alot more money to get the same mods, well engine management that is.

Only the 2005 RSX-S has the highest power rating

Only the 2005 RSX-S has the highest power rating

just a rating, the motor is the same with the same actual hp and tq. nothing really changed.
