I think I read about this some where. Plugs into the OBD sensor right? Not too bad of a price at $159. I may buy it one day.

can you tune you're car with it? if the answer is no, then i don't see the point in it for myself anyways.
This is a nifty little unit, I especially like the Throttle Position and Instantaneous MPG readouts. It showed me how heavy footed I actually was when I was driving.

the answer is no. it does not tune the car, but why would anyone want to monitor max speed, average speed, max coolant temp, max rpm, driving time driving distance, fuel used, trip fuel economy, distance to empty, time to empty, fuel to empty, instant fuel economy, fuel consumption rate, battery voltage, coolant temp, intake temp, engine speed, manifold pressure (not on zx2), engine load, throttle position, ignition timing, closed/open loop. and it also reads trouble codes, clears them and lets you know if youre ready to pass emissions, and 63 different possible background color combinations......and more for less than 200 bucks.....noone would want that

Can't tune your car with an oil pressure gauge, a boost gauge, a tachometer, a speedometer, an A/F gauge, an oil temp gauge, a battery charge gauge...
Now that you mention it, I think I'll go rip my whole cluster out of my car, no need for any of it - I can't tune the car with it.
Oh and raven - and you can laugh instead of getting all pissy, this post right here is meant as a joke

don't worry i don't really get pissy on here. lol don't get me wrong it has a lot of neet features. but for myself i can not justify spending $200.00 on it. but i do have a question.
with the trouble code part can you delete them permanently. if so then it allmost makes it worth it to me.

I have no idea, I don't own one yet. I'd contact the manufacturer on that one.

Yes, it's like any OBD2 "scanner", you can "delete" the codes if you wish. (Also known as resetting the computer as the other OBD2 scanners do)
ravensguildassasin

no no i mean permanently. as in i will never see the codes again. but i think the answer is no on that.
mechtech

Codes will come back, if the problem persists.
And emission testing won't let you pass until you have 50 good starts with no codes. This is built into the computer, and they will know.
But for $160, I may get one. Then again, maybe a vacuum gauge would be a cheap substitute.

Interesting! I had been looking at the multi-readout ones from aeroforcetech.com actually. I like their format better as it fits in the standard sized aftermarket gauge pod deals. But after seeing this one posted, it's pretty tough to justify the added expense @ $240!
Some pics from their website (http://aeroforcetech.com/Fordtech.html)

Ehhh... the idea of fitting it into a gauge pod is cool, but I dislike how most of the gauge is black matting and logo. Plus I doubt it has the background color flexibility the scan gauge does. And for an extra ~$100 - no thanks :-)

Check their site, they do come in a multitude of face plate colors, text/background colors and bezel colors.. (though non user selectable after the initial purchase) I just grabbed a couple of quick pics from their site.. but yea still alot more expensive.
This is the fancier alternative to the Scangauge II:

That's pretty slick but holy $500+ dollars! :o
At first I was like ok, $500 but your getting some kind of monitor panel with it too. Then I realized you weren't, you have to use your own monitor. For that kind of money they should include a little 5" widescreen or something to that effect with the kit!

But you'll still need to buy a screen to be able to get the info displayed. For that I'd rather go with Xcal....

xcal? You mean scangauge?
ravensguildassasin

no i think he means if he is going to pay $500.00 he will just get a xcal.

I'm not saying it's worth the money, I'm just saying that it is an alternative to the Scangauge...The Scangauge is actually a good deal when it comes to OBDII displays.
Here's another OBDII meter by Greddy, it retails for $289 and only shows fuel consumption info.

Actually, if I had the money, I would buy one. Kinda looks cool and has a
shit-ton of user friendly items on it.
Anyways...the scangauge 2 will be mine shortly in a couple of weeks. Waiting paitently for my birthday to roll around so I can open the package and start playing with it. Until them...I have to sit and stare at the brightly wrapped package that I know is mine...

its expensive, but I thought this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ScanGauge-II-Mount-Scan-Gauge-ScanGuage-MPG-Guage_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6755QQihZ009QQite mZ190246345516QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) rear view mirror mount option was kind neat!

I was thinking it'd be cool to make a cubby "pod" for this and have it angled up a bit so you could easily read it just by looking down.

It'd be cool to build into an aftermarket radio face plate too. I'll have to see if I can't pick one of these up in the next couple weeks.
simplicity05
08-30-2008, 12:30 PM
For me I'd have to put it into the faceplate below the opening (don't think there's enough room) because I'm planning on eventually having the cool little flip out/up monitor in me dash :-D
Still, another cool idea!
