Modded MTX ZX2 S/R:
~160 hp
maybe ~150tq
Cadillac Deville:
275 hp.
300 tq.
So basically I'll keep this short... We were at work and decided to race... race was from ~15mph to maybe 80mph... Right from the go we were dead even... all the way through my first gear, shifted into 2nd chirping the tires... pulled maybe a foot on him and then just held him there through 2nd, hit 3rd and pretty much ended somewhere in 3rd gear with maybe 2 feet on him...lol inline 4 beats a Northstar V8!!!! Good day for the ZX2

I looked up a 2005 Deville, they weigh around 4000LBS! So in this case, the ZX2 has about 15.6LB/HP, and the Deville has about 14.5LB/HP...pretty close.
I have driven those caddy's they have some power to them. Good race

I'm at 14.7lb/hp. Taking some weight out of a light car helps alot. Taking some weight out of a heavy car is just pointless.

Correct... but that was an estimate as to what my car has... only performance mods are Hotshot header/ 2.5" exhaust/ and powder UDP... I'm guessing I'm at 160 but I could be at 155...
Oh, and you looked up hp... torque is where he kills me... either way you're right... pretty close
haha maybe it was my drag coefficient of .33 that made me win?...jk LMAO...

honestly, i dont think its your power to weight ratio, i'd sooner give credit to our close ratio gearing and 4.10 diff

thats crazy haha
I raced my buddies '96 deville on friday and we were dead even till higher end and he hauled ass on me. Northstar V8 is a nice engine but hell that vehicle is heavy.

The numbers are closer to 14.9LB/HP and 21LB/TQ. But who cares about torque when you have VTEC, 6 gears, and a 4.7 final drive! 8)

I would only respect Honda if they go back to thier lightweight roots and put in the motors they have now. Honda's fatasses weigh more then 2800lbs now, too heavy for 4cyl modding in my opinion. As long as I'm still faster then any factory Civic (even with CAI, and exhaust) I'm still happy, cause thats pretty much all I have plus a chip running 14.7 at 97mph.

You're running 14.7@97MPH in a ZX2 with the only mods being intake, exhaust, and a chip? You must have taken a lot of weight out of the ZX2, how's it feel to drive half a car? :) Weight reduction is good for racing, but I wouldn't take the interior out for a daily driver.
The Si I have weighs about 2950lbs, the base model Civic coupe (no options) weighs about 2600lbs. So yes, mine is a bit fatter than a regular Civic, but that's due to the bigger sized engine, and it comes with every option stock that increases weight (like the moonroof, etc). Cars these days weigh more because of the safety equipment they have too, extra airbags, increased rigidity, etc. They're still fine for modding though, a guy put an intake on his Si and ran a 14.3 or so in the 1/4, and guys with I/H/E/ECU flash are running 13's, all with the full interior.

I saw a guy run 15.4 3 times with i/e/h with a 2007 Si Civic. And I dont have anything in the rear of my ZX2, and there is no need to have anything back there anyway. You wouldn't even notice all the stuff missing in the back unless you look back there, otherwise everything looks good from the middle to front of the car. I can go further and take A/C out, Cruise Control out, ABS out, and go with a c/f hood, c/f trunk, lexan glass, lightweight battery, SSR rims (10lbs each), hell I could even take out all the interior trim panels, and air bags. So technically I have 90% of a car, just no rear seats and trunk carpet. Unless you consider a 4 stage racing clutch, a fidenza flywheel, and a LSD a power adder, its a good reason why I get out of the whole in great time.

Lots of guys run high 16's with the ZX2 even tho it's a 15 second car, just like lots of people run 15's with the Si even though it's a 14 second car...it's a tricky car to run, you have to rev past 8000 to land in the sweet spot for the next gear (1-2 shift).
How much does the ZX2 weigh? I find it hard to believe that 14.7, maybe you have a factory freak, a downhill track, G-Tech instead of a track, godly driving skills, or some other mods you're not telling ;)

It weighs 2350lbs without me in it with factory power moonroof, windows, locks, you name it... fully loaded. I've been drag racing it for 5 years, so its experience with good parts in it and good sct dyno tune by McNews Automotive (mail order flash tunes suck). 138whp 135wtq with the 17% drivetrain loss rule calculated its coming out to about 160hp and 157tq at the flywheel. To be specific its 16.7%
