View Full Version : s/r and a GSR swaped EK.
well i lost !! hehehe 3 times :poke:
Short story, i was testing my new TB from quick, and i notice this nice looking EK besides me, it was a guy i barely know that has an awesome turbo eclipse, but i didnt knew he also had this EK, so we come to a stop and we both launch pretty much at the same time, by the time i hit 2 gear hes about 1 1/2 ahead of me, so i stop acelerating, i catch up and he tells me he has a GSR engine (didnt tell me if he had any other mods), so we go at it 2 more times, and pretty much the same result. He actually was pretty cool about it, telling me i should turbo my car and he can help get parts, etc etc.
It make me wonder what does it take for a zx2 to math up with a car like his ?? (other than another driver ;) )
(Its not like im going to do it, just want to know)
Damn sorry to hear you got killed.
I'm sure you slap a turbo on it, you'd run even or leave him.

The zetec cant compare to the 1.8l vtec ever. you will however always have more torque. but mod for mod no way. complete bolt on you can possibly hit 135hp give or take a few but a bolt on gsr will hit 170+ no problem.. now if you go turbo you can beat him (unless he goes turbo) but then its raceing a turbo vs n/a.

Talking about the post right above me. Sure sounds like a rant to me.

Hmm....
VTEC
ZETEC
How hard is that to spell correctly? The Zetec engine has only been around for more than 10 years now, as has the VTEC engine.
A full bolt-on Zetec N/A can hit 170whp. PM BOSS122. If he didn't hit 170whp N/A, he was damn close. I'm not saying that the B18C- won't hit those numbers with fewer mods [it will], why can't it do that with ONE set of camshaft lobes like the Zetec does?

Then again, why would you compare an engine built with high horsepower [B18C-] as the main purpose against another engine that was designed as a modest engine to power small sedans & coupes [Zetec] and achieve great fuel economy while doing it?
Apples to oranges. It's about the same as comparing a B18C- to a K20A/Z; no point.

I didn't seem to have any trouble keeping up or beating bolt-on 1.8's with my bolt-on ZX2. With more torque off the line you get ahead and stay there since you spend less time accelerating the car. So, just because they make another 20 hp doesn't mean they'll beat you. One of my favorite races involved a GSR swapped 99 Si with bolt-on's. He lost, not by much, but he lost. I was only bolt-on's at the time with a crappy blue Superchip.
That was a good race, though.

Bull sh*t what do you have done to your car first? It all comes down to the parts and a great tune. Next I have killed some car i thought I would lose to. i mean just by your picture it lookes like you have the kit and rims and more of looks. I have a stock look and alot of parts and a great SCT 93 octane tune, which really helps.

well, i got a unfinish tb, he send me one with a smaller plate and the idle was to high, but the throtle response was awesome, quick got confuse but he allrady has it back, so no problem there, can wait to get it back because its going to be the same response but smother idle.
