It was born on September 3, 2006, the day after my 21st birthday. I bought the car on November 29, 2006 with 26 miles on it. It was my first manual transaxle, and it took me 45 minutes to get home from the dealership that was only 5 miles from my house.

In January of 2007 I bought a used FocusSport intake off of a member of FocusFanatics who was going turbo. Taking the stock intake, airbox, and "elephant dick" cold air snorkel was a 2 hour ordeal.

Then, for some reason, I got bitten by the "rice" bug. I don't know what the hell I was thinking.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/Picture007.jpg

Dumped the rims and shift boot and an MBRP 2.25" flex-back exhaust and a grill from an ST.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/CIMG0220.jpg

I also snagged an F2 short shifter at JetFest 07.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/CIMG0249.jpg

I then installed some factory foglights.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/CIMG0391-2.jpg

Dropped on Eibach Pro Kit Springs. 1.8" drop.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/CIMG3701.jpg

5% Tint all around and nightshaded tails.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/Image094.jpg

Then modifications went on the downlow for about 7 months because I was saving up to move out of my parents house and get married.

Then I got bit again when I was browsing Craigslist.

50 shot wet nitrous kit from Nitrous Oxide Systems. Also got an extra Zex kit bottle.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/CIMG0572.jpg

And some 17"x7" Ford Racing rims wrapped in some cheap WanLi 225/45R17s

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q135/bosengel/CIMG0535.jpg

Also had to lose the nightshaded taillights.

[QUOTE]

I didn't.

I modded the fuck out of it.

I've also got a custom shift boot from CarbonTC in the works and I'm also in the market for some black housing headlights. I also plan on painting the chrome trim on the grill gloss black to match the new headlights.

I'm still a fan of the '00-'04 Focus look over any newer ones. I like the current rims you have on that car. The chrome one's looked like crap though. How you have it now looks pretty decent. The Focus engine bay looks quite confusing...

the grille looks good painted silver

I think I remember saying he traded grilles with someone.

I still remember the "mod going to mod it" thread. Can't believe it was nearly 2 years ago already. :D

Yeah, I switched the center part of the grill out with a guy who had a Focus ST. It was a bitch to get out without breaking the clips.

Future plans? it cant be too fast right now. you've done mostly cosmetic mods.

That's nice... good job for getting the Duratec over the Zetec; and I think you should redo the nightshade but not as dark, try like 1/2 the coats... I wonder: why did the cop give you a ticket for that, instead of say, illegal tint (unless your state doesn't care about tint, that is)? Ok, according to www.tintlaws.com only your front two windows are illegal...

Yep, 5% is legal in Nevada on the back windows. I drive with my front windows down most of the time, so I don't get hassled.

Wow, that's crazy... We are legally allowed 30% on every window (except the windshield of course) here, in Indiana. Most people get 20% though... One of my buddies had 5% on all the windows on his Talon... Oddly he never got a ticket for that.

Intake, exhaust and nitrous doesn't make it that fast?? I'll bet it's faster than 50% of the ZX2s on this site. I don't have $400 for the F2 or Cosworth header or the $200 for the UDP that was introduced not too long ago either. For being the "better" motor, it sure is slow going for parts to get moving. I'm STILL waiting for Eibach to release the dampeners to go along with my springs. The Ford Racing ones I have now just aren't cutting the musturd. WHy Ford had to change the suspension in 06 is still beyond me.

I've always wondered how people drive 5 speeds with no tach...is it very hard?

I guess your opinion is kinda skewed as you have only owned this manual car. hehe

had 2 do it on an older civic hatch that didnt have one and my other zx2 (which i got rid of last year) which had a tach that only worked like 20% of the time. Its really not that hard for puttin around. easy actually. But i think it would be a bitch if i wanted to race and shift at a certain rpm everytime.
I cannot believe the newer focus doesnt have a freakin tach though!!!

Anyway, BOS nice car man. I remember when you first got it and said you weren't going to mod it. Glad you saw the light and did the right thing, lol.

I remember the post saying something to the extent:

"If I get this car (the focus) I won't mod it. It will be enough"

Man I wish I would have quoted that. ahha

Bos Engel

I had it quoted in my old project worklog. ;D

With a series of steps, I can pull up a digital tach where the odometer is. For everyday to moderately spirited driving I've just learned to listen to the engine, but at the track I can use the tach.

***Update***

I'm taking the nitrous off of my car and selling today. I haven't filled it since April and I'm not really using it. I'll be using the money to move into a new place. My wife and I will actually be moving into Las Vegas and out of the suburbs. I'll be closer to work and my buddies in our local car club so I'll save gas.

Onto the good news. I have always wanted to put a header on this car but the Cosworth and F2 ones were the only options. At $525 and $400 respectively, it was a little out of my budget. But alas, OBX has released a header for the Duratec and it runs for $250 shipped from Ebay.

http://www.racingpartsdepot.com/pictures/11110.jpg

This 4-1 Header offers a primary port interior diameter of 1.75 inch and a 2.5 inch collector.

Sooooo. After we get settled in and I can save some money, this bad boy and those black housing headlights will be mine.

You can put the cylinder head from a Miata on it... that'll give you a boost in power.

UPDATE

Major setback.

Hopefully it can be repaired because these rims were discontinued about 2 years ago.
