View Full Version : Dumb question for sure.. aftermarket pedals..?

Alright I'm sure this is a dumb question but I need to know. Will any/all of the aftermarket pedals fit on our cars?

I just got a manual tranny zx2, the pedals are tiny and the clutch pedal rubber pad is worn all the way smooth so my foot keeps slipping off. The gas & brake are pretty worn also. I could just get OEM replacements, but as I said they are also really tiny and keep rubbing the side of my foot/shoe anyway.

Would like to get some replacements that may be a big bigger, and give me better traction. At the same time I REALLY don't want any of the chrome ricey type stuff sold at the local auto parts store. Does anyone have any that aren't so flashy that they could recommend?

Thanks!

I've got the tribal looking one's from auto zone or wherever, and they don't look all that ricey.
I've gotten compliments on them from pretty much everyone who's ridden in my car long enough to look at em.
I'll post pics if you want to see em.

these aren't too bad. I got them about 7 years ago at pep boys. The cost for them then was $11. When I last looked, they were still about the same price. The only thing I did different was to use self tapping screws instead of the wrap around crap that comes with them. One of the holes has a raised ring to prevent slipping. Just remember to make them line up with the bottom of the pedal so they do not wear into the carpet when pressing in the clutch.:wiggle:

That is the autozone automatic pedals, I don't know why they don't have pics of the set of 3.
The listed price is what I paid for em.

holy shit jombee! I'm not real sure but it looks like the possibility of impaling one or more of my toes is present with those things should i decide to rock a pair of sandals! I'm gonna have to pass!

And yea thats the closest one 03zx2, but after gas to get there and back in the truck I could afford better rims! ;)

I get my shoelaces caught in em all the time.
The edges are kind of sharp, I certainly wouldn't recommend sandals. But then I would never recommend sandals to anyone... ever... for any reason.
Unless you also wear socks.

my wife refuses to leave the house if I'm wearing socks and sandals, and I refuse to wear them without socks.

I really like my pedals... got them from AutoVation. They are made for Nissan 240sx... figured if they didnt fit I could use them on my 240. They are $75 + shipping. I like them most because if they ever get some buildup or anything, I can pull them off and blast them to get the new look back. I got the competition series. DONT bother with the heel plate... The shape of our floor doesnt let it sit flat. Waste of money.

I just took some of the bend outta the pedals to get them to sit flat and then drilled holes and mounted. The 240sx kit doesnt come with enough machine screws/nuts so just take a nut and bolt down to a real hardware store (not home Depot or Lowes) and get 3 more of each.

Are most of these pedals just cover kits or are they actual replacement pedals?

Fuel shut off switch, I think they are only on S/R's (not sure about only being on S/R's, don't quote me)....

Its the cover for the fuel safety switch. If you get in an accident its supposed to trip... I've had 2 (1 major accident) and they've never tripped.

Mine is in the trunk on the passenger wheel well. Yours is probably as well if you don't have that cover. The only reason I have the cover is I swapped a charcoal interior in from a "newer" ZX2 where the switch was up front.

i wish the svt focus pedals fit our cars, or even the mercury cougur has pedals like the svt focus just plain silver with black rubber grips(dots) like yellows pics they are very close. i wish they made a kit for a auto. usually the brake pedal for a auto kit is alot bigger than our stock brake pedal
