Without mounting a subwoofer backwards, is there a way to increase the mounting depth?

The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about getting a 4080 Enclosure for my car, which has a listed mounting depth of 7.5"... but my existing subwoofers, 12" Alpine Type R 12's, are listed has having a mounting depth of 7.7"... :( I'm concerned that they may not fit right... is there some kind of thick gasket or extra baffle I can use to make the sub stick out a bit more when it's mounted?? thanks!

Get an extra 1/2 sheet of 3/4" particle board (HD-$4-6) and cut your circle (spacer) then mount spacer to box/ sub to spacer.

figured as much, and to ensure not much air is lost, is there anything I could use as a gasket? my subs came with one foam ring which I already have mounted to the back of the sub baffle

A. Don't use particle board. Use MDF or HDF (medium/high desity fiber board)

B. You can use Dynomat or any similar product for an awesome seal. Thats what I use. Or you can buy the liquid gasket stuff which can work wonders to. But with that stuff you must play the waiting game while it drys.

i never thought about using dynomat for a seal... that would entail several layers, I imagine... I decided to PM a member on g35driver about a zenclosure he has... much less expensive and a greater mounting depth, and since it sits closer to the cabin and fires to the rear, it should give a better boom than the 4080's... i'll keep the progress posted

I typically use just one layer, but you could use 2-3 if you wanted.
