Has anyone had any experience putting an SVT header on a ZX2. ZXTuner site says you may need to modify the radiator fan housing some, but it is very vauge. I tried to e-mail him, but have gotten no responce.
It looks like it is the one of the best headers on the market for a Zetec, so it might be worth while to try and make it work. It also has a heat shield so it can look stock when the inspectors pop the hood.
If I remember correctly you have to modify or get a custom exhaust, and cut part of the crossmember to make it work.

It's really not one of the best headers by any means. If you are getting one for real cheap out of a junkyard/forum, that's the only way I could see it being worth it. Cheap being under $100.
If you are buying the SVT header from Zxtuner.com it is almost the same price as the FocusSport header, IIRC.
If you really wanted the best, the Focussport header is your ticket, imo. It's $360 new.
My personal opinion. The HP gains over a header that would fit already would not be worth what you have to get it to fit.

Yea, I got a real good deal on a SVTF header. I guess they went turbo and decided to sell of the original header.
From what I've read on the focus forums, the 4-1 header does have an advantage on peak hp, but at the sacrifice of some torque. I'm a DD ATX, so torque is nice to have. I did try and get a Kami, but someone swooped in and took advantage of me while I was busy working. Regardless, I don't mind a little fabrication work, I'm mostly concerned that it is possible with out major work.

In theory, 4-2-1 are designed for mid to high hp and low to mid rpm torque, 4-1 shorties are designed for mid hp and high rpm torque, and mid 4-1 headers are good for mid to high hp and tq (kami ftw), long 4-1 headers are good for really high rpms. Again, in theory.

See thats why I like the FocusSport header a lot.
It is a 4-1 but the basis is that of a 4-2-1 design; meaning the collector is at the end and not in the very beginning like the Kami.
It seems to have the best of both worlds imo.
Either way the biggest thing is getting rid of the cat and the cast manifold. A cheap header is a good header. I'm a big fan of spending 1/3-1/4 of what most people pay for stuff.

The short tube, 4 into 1, or 4 into2 into 1 designs have their merits mostly when using them open.
When you put a long exhaust pipe on them, results get muddy and mixed.

Theres a lot of talk abou this stuff, but no back to back to back dynos to prove anyone right or wrong. Theory.... Shorties are just a comprimise, the length of the primaries are too short and thus the tuned length is at way to high of an rpm range to be of any real effect for scavenging, although they are much better than the cast iron log. 4-1 primary lengths are tuned for our desired power bands and assume enough presure is being created to not need extra scavenging, they are also way easier to make. 4-2-1 designs attempt to use opposing cylinders to get extra scavenging, thus the reputation for more torque, you also get the benefit of the long primary length. This has been my understanding for quite a while. I've seen plenty of mustang shorty vs. long tube dynos and the long tubes always win torque and peak hp numbers, usually all the way across the power band. The 4-2-1 design makes the most sence in my mind and the Focus guys swear up and down that the SVT header is the best all around header out there for the Zetec.
Anyhow, that's a bit off topic but fun to talk about.
So how big of cut am I going to have to make in the crossmember?
