Hey guys,

Was down shifting into first gear to go up my driveway today and my clutch hit the floor. Never had any smells of burnt clutch, but this one does have some serious mileage. I want to not only solve this issue, but eliminate having to rip it all apart in the future. I would love a transmission with either a less aggressive fifth gear or maybe an extra gear. I am located near Reading PA (1 hr from Philly), and need help locating a decent transmission and clutch for this. Anyone who has ordered a clutch kit online and likes it please let me know what site you ordered off of. Thanks in advance guys.

C'mon damnit....I need help with this one. I know german shit, but am a little lacking when it comes to the Z. I am thinking a centerforce clutch...anyone had any luck with the stage 2 clutch kits on ebay, or should the centerforce be ok? I want a daily driver with a little more kick than stock. This car gets 35K miles a year easy...gotta keep it simple. The stage 2 is cheaper, but will it last? No-name stuff scares me a tad...

There is no such thing as a performance Transmission for the ZX2 unless you drop a focus transmission in. It needs some major modding to work.

Do not go with a ebay clucth. Go with a spec, act, or centerforce or even anything in that quality. The stages depend on how much your willing to pay and comfortably for daily driving.

A sudden drastic change could be a hydraulic problem, not the disc or pressure plate.

That's what I was thinking.

yeah...not sure what it is. I don't know whats going on with it...I played with it today and with the car off you can shift freely, but when the car is on the shifter wont move at all. Was thinking bad cyl? The car has enough miles for me to see it as a worthwhile thing to do though. At over 150K the clutch is pretty beat... Right now I'm leaning towards the centerforce, but from what I have read it seems that the ACT clutches are a little bit more firm? Thanks for the input guys.
