5th gear question.

i know its been talked about, and im sure there's already a thread about it
but i was just wondering why are people swapping the 5th gear.
what difference does it make and from what trans.. thanks.

Figure it this way, it will be more like a '6th' gear.
It could be handy for highway use, at elevated steady speeds.
For 65 mph and under, I would not consider it.
Saving gas and maybe a bit less engine wear is the objective.
