S\R computer not installed from Ford?

On the S/R's where those computers install from Ford or did they come in a box? I saw one on ebay and said it came from Ford in a box and that they were not install in the cars themselves. Is this right?
The response I read was "NGP0 ECU's were only available from ford racing, they never came in the S/R zx2's."

There were several PCM's used in the S/R's. Yes, they were installed by Ford. However, you used to be able to buy S/R PCM's through the Ford parts counter as a Ford Racing part.

well, I heard S/Rs were not completely built "S/R"s from the plant. I heard some parts were installed by the dealer and came in a box in the car's trunk.

NGP0 and GRS0 were Ford Racing codes only. In 1999 and 2000 there was a cali emissions and a federal emissions S/R PCM, so four S/R codes and two Ford Racing codes.

Ford Racing codes were never ever installed in S/R's or regular ZX2's, likewise you couldnt get a S/R computer over the parts counter.

The NGP0 is more aggressive then cwq3, and the other codes less aggressive than the others.

Back in the day the dude who owns ZXTuner said he had the ability to flash a OEM "race only" code, if it exists it is the rarest of all codes, but I don't recall there ever being proof of it. Also it could only be flashed on specific ECU's (The XS4F-###... part numbers) and was reported to idle like crap.

They were. IDK how else to explain it to you. NGP0 came in 99 S/R's.

I remember some guys saying they looked up there NGP0 code on the door jamb.
That indicates to me that it was a factory sticker.
Computer replacements and reburns are usually identified by a sticker under the hood.

NGP0 (1999 S/R, FR) calibration 155MPH speed limiter, added timing, refined fuel rated 10% power increase (Cali emissions)
CWQ3 (2000 S/R) minor fuel curve tweak, small addition to timing 160MPH speed limiter (45 state legal)
XHG3 (2000 S/R) same as NGP0 with less timing (same timing as CWQ3 (Cali emissions)
