So, I've had my nice, shiny 3" cat-less downpipe sitting in my living room taunting me for almost 2 weeks. Last week was my last week of college and I had to finish up my Senior Design project, so I didn't have any time to even look at it. This week I started full time as a Firmware Engineer and was extremely busy most of the week.

Finally, this morning I had some spare time. My wife was out training, so I decided to get up early and start turning wrenches. Pretty easy install, overall. I let all the bolts/studs soak with P'Blaster for about 10 minutes as I collected all of my tools (after Jacking up the car). Everything came out really easy, but the holes on the flange on the turbo side of my new donpipe didn't quite line up. Luckily, my wife had just pulled up, so I borrowed her Jetta and ran to my local speed shop to have the drill the holes out slightly. After that, completing the install was simple.

The car pulls hard now and it sounds a bit better. I'm pretty impressed now, but I can't wait until next week. I'm going to be getting Stage 2 APR tuning either Monday or Tuesday. Then I should be on the dyno at work one afternoon after that getting it perfect. I'll post numbers when I have them....

Glad to hear your modding it already, all my friends with new cars whine about "it's gonna void my warraanntttyyy".

With a few simple mods like that you should have a hella quick car.

Yea, it's a super fun car. Everything I'm doing to the car can be relatively easily reverted back to stock, too.

With similar mods, other GTi's are putting down over 200hp and slightly higher torque numbers after tuning. The car feels really quick now, but I know it's going to be completely different after I get a tune in it. Now I jus need to get the power to the ground..... new tires, soon.
