View Full Version : Fedex or UPS?

Which do you guys prefer? Why?

My experience:

I have shipped A LOT of shit, as I'm sure you all know. I have probably shipped over 100 things for teamzx2 alone, so I definitely know these companies inside and out price wise. UPS is FAR more expensive than Fedex, and usually about 1 day slower. A Rear Disc Swap for UPS was over $60, so I tried Fedex for the first time, and it was $31.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I will never step into a UPS store again. I just don't like them, and I think they are slow.

Note, this has nothing to do with me working for Fedex.

UPS.

Why? I worked at FedEx and saw what happens to packages there.

I don't know if UPS is any different, but I haven't seen inside their facilities. :D

Lol, my friend is a manager at UPS. He said he can't believe that packages survive with the way the people throw them and step on them and shit.

Maybe they're the same then. :D

I'll start shipping with camels.

UPS. They consistantly arrive with my packages between 11:30am and 12:30pm.
With FedEx, they might get here at 9am or after I leave for work at 3:30pm. I hate waiting around wondering when they will show up. Shipping might be cheaper, but I'll continue to pay more for UPS.
Oh, FedEx also delivered my H&R springs to my neighbor.

UPS, they have better, cheaper, and faster HazMat shipping for the powder i buy.

when we ship things to family in Alaska, neither are good...they are all VERY expensive (talking 100 bucks for a small box). in that case, it's always about 1/5 the price to send it USPS.

I tried them both , prefer going with USPS , better rate , insurance I know I can collect on and never had a damaged item . I've shipped a few hundred packages all over the world . I've had damage and loss from Ups , Fedx and DHL , never could collected , DHL is a total joke . Lost a package overseas with USPS , took almost a year to collect but they paid is full .

UPS has the best domestic rates, pretty much can't beat them for non-time critical domestic shipments. They also feature a paperless invoice now which is pretty cool if you do a lot of international shipping.

Fedex usually has the best time critical rates period. Also they are almost always cheaper than UPS on anything international.

And DHL, unless your in Germany (where DHL is the German Post Office), is by far the worst.

JohnP, DHL just went under :]

Fedex and UPS split up their routes. Trust me, lol...we get 16,000 more packages/day thanks to DHL.

I last used DHL a couple of years ago , damaged and lost stuff , never could get anything resolved. So they went under good deal , see their trucks running around here in S.W. Florida , based out of Port Charlotte , wonder who's running the trucks now .

I'm sure they will be gone soon. They are still in talks with dividing up their routes with the two powerhouses. They should be gone within the year.

USPS. There is a post office a mile away.

UPS and fed ex are both a half hour away.

I'm going to say FedEx, but mostly because I work there.

UPS only because of location and I've never had a bad experience. I would prob ship oversized items Fedex though.

I put down UPS because in my experiences with them they have better packaging and seem to be more reliable. FedEx is cheaper and faster, but not as reliable in my opinion. I use both, if I'm shipping something expensive, I will pay extra to have UPS ship it. Otherwise if I'm more concerned about time and/or price I will go with FedEx. I don't normally use USPS, and have never used DHL. I realize that the packaging can be different depending on the sender, but in my experience the UPS packages have better packaging.

Fedex. I work in the shipping dept, for a major company, and we get a 60% discount shipping through Fedex. Also thier ship manager software is alot easier to use, and integrates hazmat shipping into thier shipmanager much better than UPS. UPS either has a bunch of idiots in there programming dept. or a very understaffed one.

I like usps. Seems like they are fast and my packages always come in great shape. Granted this isn't one of the choices for fedex or ups..they have always done a great job around here for me. So I would say a tie.

Yeah, I ALWAYS ship USPS. With the two poll choices, I prefer UPS, but I always do the Post Office route. It's cheaper and pretty reliable. Insurance is cheap too.

I've used UPS or USPS, mostly. FedEx lost my powder pulley awhile back, so I was "boycotting" them, but with my homie, Brad, there, now, I'll prolly use them.
Where the hell is the place, Brad? I use UPS 'cause it's right around the corner. It's a bitch pulling onto Trabue to come home, tho! One more reason to go through you...

UPS and USPS for me, UPS tends to be cheaper whenever I have anything shipped to/from me.

Also I've had a few bad experiences with FedEx, twice they delieved a package around 9pm, when I'm normally asleep by 8 because of when I wake up for work. The second was with a video card I was having shipped from California. On the tracking info I watched it go from Cali to Texas, then Texas to Arizona, then "disappear." I called multiple times but they couldn't figure out what happened, I ended up randomly getting it about 2-3 weeks after it "disappeared" completely trashed and the card was broken in half. That about did it for me.

I don't really use either, but if I had to choose, I would choose FedEx. Of the times I had to ship stuff through UPS or FedEx, FedEx not only ended up being cheaper, but it got there faster, and it got there unscathed. I have had boxes arrive to me completely trampled to death and ends torn open, parts missing, etc with UPS. When I have stuff shipped FedEx, it usually gets there a day or two early, and it's fine when it arrives. I hate that NewEgg changed over to UPS as their main shipper... absolutely hate it, so I just pay more for them to use FedEx (more expensive through them because of their bulk contract with UPS) when I order through them.

When I have the choice, I use USPS. I have never had one problem with them, and they're ALWAYS on time.
