Intake cams work, but the exhaust cams are different, due to VCT.

if i was to delete the vct then would they work? and how do you delete the vct and what is the purpose of it except for this?

I couldn't say for sure if you could use the Focus cams. I think you could, but there is really no point. We get more aggressive grinds than the Focus guys. Their high torque is basically our stock cam.
Deleting VCT gets you a static cam time. You don't have to worry about it flopping around on it's own. It's easier to tune. You can make more power if you tune with VCT, but it takes a lot more time.

If you put hot cams in your car, mothers will cover their children's eyes when you drive by!

even with vct delete the exhaust cam will not work from a focus.

correct
i've posted this picture before elsewhere on the site. i need to redo my write up on the complete vct internals/hardware removal showing the differences between the focus cams and zx2 cams and why the exhaust cams are not interchangeable.

notice the left side of the cams. the zx2 cam is made to fit into a spool where as the focus cam has is made for a cam gear to mate directly to it.
also the zx2 has the cam position ring on the exhaust while the focus does not.

I can't find the original picture, but I had one from when crane came sent me a free set to test their focus cams on the ZX2. The intake cam fit fine, but the exhaust cam had a huge gap whereoil would leak out the side of the head because of the difference in head deisgn due to VCT.
Crane will custom grind came for the ZX2 if you ask the right people nicely.

I wanted to get better cams too...where should I get them then?

Midnight - With an auto trans you will lose low end and driveability. Think twice before diving in with new cams - you have stated that you want low/mid torque.
You will gain top end full throttle power, though.

I was looking at the Web cam page on ZXtuner and there are a plethora of cams. How would some one decided which would be the best one for their ZX 2.
