I need to replace my battery soon, and want to go with a deep cycle. I was looking at the Optima application book at Costco the other day and they don't list any of the yellow or red top's in the book for the ZX2.

And what is the difference between the two anyway? I've never figured that out..

Thanks in advance!

unless you have a big need for power, just go with a redtop.

Well yea, I am upgrading it due to running a couple of amps for my system. It needs replaced anyway and figure I might as well upgrade it while I'm at it.

So there are no models that are the same size as stock?

A lot of people have trouble with the Optima batteries. If they get drained they no longer hold charges. Ask anyone who works at an Advance Auto Parts, they get more of those batteries returned than any other.

Sears makes a Diehard battery with deep cycling...looks a lot like a Red/Yellow-top battery. I have a regular Diehard battery in my wife's car and it's been a great battery, plus they have great warranties. They're a proven brand. I'd give one of those a try.

They also have a Platinum line that has a ton of power and cold cranking amps and corrosion-proof terminals. They're pricey ($160-190) but they're probably worth it if you need the power. 4-year free replacement too.

Interesting! I always thought the Optima batteries where the best. Thats what I always heard anyway.

I just know I need to do something before winter. The one I have in there now is 5 years old. And I just installed a stereo system in it so I know it's straining harder then it ever has, I'm running 3 subs and 2 amps. Im guessing it will strand me somewhere over the winter if I don't replace it. I was always told a deep cycle is what you want for systems..
