so im hoping to get a new car in about 1-2 years, because my zx2 has about 180,000 miles and its getting a little on the old side. I have been running by a few options and i just can not make a decision! Just to throw this out, these cars would all be a stick. So at first i was set and stone on a 2003 Ford Focus SVT (3-door), And then i thought .... hmm i kinda would love to have a AWD, so i thought i would get a 2002 Subaru Legacy GT (limited) and i was looking and its kinda pricey. My price range is about 5000-6000 ... And now out of nowhere i said ... you know what a nice 4 door sedan thats has a awesome engine. A 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R so now i dont know what to do. I really want a Sentra SE-R ... but i dont know if they have a bad rep. and the focus SVT ... i havent heard many good things. but yeah throw some Idea's by me.

Of those listed, I'd go w/ the legacy since I'm partial to subaru... lol.

Granted you say its out of your price range, so I dunno. I don't know much about the SE-R (airman slacker just sold his, but not due to poor quality IIRC) and I know about the same amount on the SVTF.... Though I recently looked into getting the 4dr version of it since I have a kid.

On the other hand, (if you're like me) I don't do car payments anymore... so I'd buy what I can pay cash for... which means, you might be keeping the ZX2 :p

personally would get the focus svt just cuz I love that car and it can hold boost safely. The Mazda 3's are nice, but I see SOOOOOOOOO many of them it'd drive me crazy to own one - I like the fact that the ZX2 isn't a very common vehicle, and even less common to be modded.

what year is the zx2? I seen different zx2 with over 200k. You could always get a lower mileage motor from junkyard. I not sure about the Svt focus I have heard of different promblems with the early svts. I think you will have to run premium gas.I am not bashing on the Focus. I have a 2002 zx3 as a daily driver with 72,000 with no single promblem. If you want to get a different car, I would choose the mazda 3.

SE-Rs are slow. Go for the AWD, and bust out some crazy mods.

SVT focus. :judge: After driving this, you will wonder why ford did not do this to the ZX2

Somehow, I feel a SVT Focus would be less than a 2.5 for some reason...

I live in Ottawa, ON - I drive like 300 miles a week for work and mighhhht see 2-3 ZX2's during that time. The V6 stangs are definately more common lol.

Yeah i have a 1998 zx2 "hot" ... 173K as it stands. Intake, exhaust, wires, stage 1 clutch. I've been babying it ... hoping it will last me another 2 years. The tranny was just replaced. the SE-R spec V has 175Hp and 180Tq ... and the SVT has 170Hp and 145Tq ... you think the SE-R will sh@t on the SVT ... and the Legacy GT has alot of potential. But isnt very impressive in the long run. Look on youtube .. the 0-60 is a joke. and its about 6 grand more. and it gets about 26MPG ... im looking for around 32MPG ... like my zx2 gets. I get 31MPG all city ... and 39MPG all highway. Now, does what i just said change your minds in the polls? I dont know if the torque difference will make the SE-R faster. and a Mazda 3 ... they ARE overrated. I dont know.

Or i cant just save my money .. and finance a brand new vehicle. If i got a brand new vehicle .. it would be a brand new 2-door focus .. or a new sentra SE-R .. those new SE-R's are hot ... and the yellow attracts me. and the new SI's are fast ... but i would never buy a civic ... for they are so popular and i don't wanna become a normal car person. I want something unique! =] thats why i have a zx2!

You do know that they don't make any new Focus hatches?? That's the only version of that car that I would buy. The ZX3, with the Duratec. And something to think about: AWD rocks. You do get snow, so that will help out with your winter traction...

I would just stay away from the Sentra. Go with the Mazda 3 (lots of aftermarket). They have a good engine with the Mazda version of the Duratec 23, handle really well, and look pretty snazzy.

No, the new 2009 Ford Focus ... it comes in a 2-door coupe! with a 2.0L duratec .. haven't heard anything about it yet. But yeah i was thinking a Mazda 3 ... but their are too many! my brother just bought a 2.0 mazda3, They are everywhere!!! ... i think its between a SVT focus or a Sentra SE-R Spec V .. I keep saying to buy a Sentra SE-R because the specs look awesome. But im talking myself out of it now. haha

The specs look good, but they don't seem to perform all that well. My S/R beat one pretty easily with an intake cam, UDP, and header.
