Title says it all, a "buddy" asked me to list it for him, He's a pretty good friend to me so I decided I'd list it for him. Silver Eclipse, 132,000 miles. Currently has 17" ICW rims/ new tires on it. T2 primer grey wing on it. 3/4ths green underglow kit (driver side missing). Side exit exhaust w/Thrush muffler. Automatic, 4cyl non turbo, FWD. Some rust spots....pass. fender is pretty smashed in. Its pretty pimp.

I read for five seconds and found out:

This car still for sale? If it is, be up front and honest: What is wrong with it (other than visual defects)? Does it shift hard, does the engine smoke, does it stall on idle, use a lot of oil/coolant, bad alternator, ...?
Please let me know what is truly wrong with it, and if it's not too bad, I may buy this for my girlfriend.

Do not discredit a 98 Eclipse. I have a few friends who have 98 Eclipses, Both GST's and GSX's, and they run like a dream. Beat to piss or not, an Eclipse is very robust, and if the damage is not too great, I could probably fix this up to be a decent dd for my girlfriend.

Well, as much as I'm sure you guys want to say the Eclipse/DSM motors are shit or laugh at my "robust" statement, so much could be equally said about your ZX2s. Trust me, I have one, I know. So while, yes, the DSM has problems, so do all other cars. But that's not really helping the situation or making it any easier for this car to get sold, so please let it go. Thanks.
@random_hero: Can you ask your friend if it does ANYTHING weird? Or maybe check it out for yourself? If it's in decent shape and can survive for a while, I'll look into getting this for my girlfriend. Thanks again.

FYI, your bombz cold air intake is a warm air intake, not cold, and it is most likely netting you losses in power.
The zx2 is easily ten times more reliable than a DSM.
FYI, doesn't really matter to me. It was a quick fix for my horrible stock intake which had a crack and hole in the tube to the throttle body, bypassing the stock filter's job. And it actually did increase my car's performance by a slight margin. It's not as if I tossed a turbo in it or anything, but it's better than it was, and at least I have an air-tight intake now. At a later date, I'll toss in a much better intake, but that probably won't happen until I toss a turbo in this. Again, temporary solution that works.
And in either case, I don't care what car is more reliable. I just don't want anything like this discussion starting when I'm trying to inquire and maybe buy something moderately decent and temporary for my girlfriend. It just completely hinders attempts at getting information, because instead of "oh, it has an oil leak" or "it slips between gears" or whatever, all you get is, "LOL ITS A DSM IT SUX LULULULULULZ", which does NOTHING but hinder both this guy's attempt at a sale and my attempt at getting solid information. That'd be just like me going to a "what's wrong with my car" thread on this site and saying, "Oh, it's a Ford, that's it's problem. Ford even circled the problem for you on its logos", which does nothing helpful. I don't care if you want to compare engine models/manufacturers, but if you want to start a DSM vs. Ford discussion, feel free to start a thread elsewhere, but please not here, ok?
...Sigh...
Anyway, again: Random, talk to your buddy and see what is wrong with his car. Something HAS to be, and even if it's a slightly major issue, if it's not too severe and I can fix it reasonably, I may still take it.
