a shitload of financial aid money (I was independent in the eyes of the financial aid system for the first time this year).
First thing is to pay my mom back for the zx2. Second, I gotta buy textbooks, but luckily I get to use the same math book from a previous class and only have to buy two which are used for 160 total. This leaves me about 2400. I need new glasses and prescription. I could always pay a few bills down(certainly the reasonable thing to do) but it's more fun to be unreasonable. So that leaves the zx2, sitting unmodded in my parking lot as we speak. Surely I will fix anything normal that needs to be done before doing any mods, but oh the possibilities.

Just pay your bills. Don't be stupid and blow "your" money. It's only "yours" for the time being, you have to still pay it back + interest in the futures.
Don't be another statistic. Last thing you want to be is a broke ass student that is in debt and with credit screwed for years.

Because financial aid is designed to assist with paying for things that will provide for your future (school tuition, books, living expenses)... Not body kits, NOS and other misc stuff on an item going down in value...
You're going to do what you're going to do. But I strongly recommend not being an idiot with money that's not free. Don't be stupid and run out of money to cover things the money was intended to cover.

Oh I know it's not free, and I work almost full-time to live and survive and I've been going to college for a long time. While I'm certainly not going to blow it all, I would like a few things for the zx2.

I hate hearing stuff like this. Apparently you received a lot more money then you actually need, but people like me can't even go to school because I don't get a dime.

Posted via Mobile Device I never had to pay my financial aid back I had to pay my student loans back!!! Financial aid I recurved was for tuition books n I always got around 400 bucks extra blow on what ever.... I don't know if it is like that for everyone in every state but it might have just been the grant I had.. But if I had my zx2 back then I would be blowing that cash on it for sure!!!

Yeah there are different types of grants and loans. Some you have to pay back interest free, some you pay back with interest, and some you get to keep.

Psh don't listen to the kid above me.. Dont get cheap shit...
Oh and dont wast your extra money from school. I just finished yesterday with my 1 year college. i have 6 months until the interest on the 6 thousand i owe comes to get me in the ass... I had to take a full time job and my current job. Don't waste your "free" money because it will bite you in the ass, oh and if you can't afford it after school its going to affect your credit.
My stupid ass friend did that shit with a grant and got his tein suspension for his gsx.. what a waste.

I don't understand? Most anyone can get financial aid. While I do get plenty in grants, I do have a lot of loans as well. The reason I got so much is because I'm 24 years old and "independent" in the eyes of the financial aid system. Up until now it was always based upon mine and my mom's taxes.

When I said I was gonna be unreasonable and that my zx2 was sitting in my parking lot unmodded and "imagine the possibilities", I was saying it tongue in cheek. This is my last year of school as I will graduate in the spring. I've never gotten this much money up until now. My tuition and fees are paid for, and this is the leftover money for living expenses. I work to pay my bills and live, and I go to school to further myself and my education. It also afforded me the ability to get rid of a broken-down tempo and get a new car.
Smusser, again how come you can't afford to go to school? Do you or your parents make too much money to qualify?

Obviously i was misunderstood, If you do buy parts from ebay get the name brand parts, they're just cheaper on ebay. They are right though, don't get that crap thats universal its a waste of money.

I make about $20k a year, live on my own, never see any money from my parents. I am not claimed as a dependant so I can go off my own tax returns. I still have yet to see a dime in financial aid. But a couple of my friends that live at home with their parents (that make well over $100k a year) get full tuition plus an extra amount! I just wish the system was a little more strict, giving people only what they need for tuition. Why should my friends get an extra $1500-2000 a year when I cant get a cent.

This wasnt a personal attack at anyone by the way haha. I just get frustrated because I want to go to school more than anything else. My test scores are far above average, my transcript is great, the only thing stopping me is the financial aspect. Student loans are out of the question (completely my fault, as soon as I turned 18 I was very immature with my spending and credit and really dug myself into a hole).

Even if your parents don't claim you as a dependent, it still depends on them until you are either 24, married, have had a baby, or been in the military. You can officially "emancipate" yourself from them, and you do this at the school you want to apply to. You just have to prove your independence. Also, if I can get loans, you most likely can too. My credit is nothing to write home about and the majority of my aid is loans, which is why I have so much extra. I did get a pretty decent grant though.
