Since everyone seems to make picture threads then put 56k NO WAY after it...I began to wonder. Is anyone even on dial up on here? Why do we feel the need to put that outdated terminology on posts in 2008.
TeamZX2...tell me...who is on 56k!

Haven't read the rules since the forum changed.... but on the old forum the rules said you should post a 56k warning on any threads with large pics. That being said, I don't know anyone that still has dial-up.

I still have clients that I log into over modem Chris... It's sad and very antiquated technology, but still used.

voted. i think the warning now should be for people who browse on their phone. just think, in a few years kids won't even know what 56k is.

I've had a couple posts that I opened that should have had a "LESS THAN T3 NO WAY" warning on them lol. Otherwise, i've asked this question in the past... why bother to say it if no one has it lol.

I know mechtech uses dial-up. He's complained in a few forums about oversized pictures before.

I have a working USB 56K modem as a backup and high speed DSL at home. I haven't used it for years. There are so many free WiFi hotspots that anyone with a decent laptop can get on-line even if they don't have high speed home service.

I kind of always wondered this. Seems like pretty much everybody uses broadband. Still, the phone part makes sense though. A lot of people are surfing on the iPhones, so it's the same thing almost.

I've had high speed for about 1 1/2 years, before that I had dial-up. I live in the middle of nowhere, so we almost didn't get high speed out here, but there happens to be a box about a mile from us, so that saved us. But we have to pay $40 a month for high speed. If you really live in the middle of nowhere, your choices are dial-up or satellite internet. I tried to help a guy out on figuring out a satellite internet to get, but didn't find any that were really good and cheap. I told him to stay with dial-up. The good thing I've found about dial-up is that even if the power goes out, it's still usable. We can still dial-up even though we now have high speed, so if the power goes out and we need the weather, just connect up the notebook and check the weather.
But there will still be people on dial-up as long as their area doesn't provide a cheap option for high speed.

It's pretty clear the 'OMG 56k death!' is no longer needed.

I am still putting it in all titles.
Even those without pictures.
Thanks.
