MSD or Stock Coil

I have heard that the MSD coil is not as good as a stock...

Can anyone confirm or deny this for me. I believe i read this b4 the site was redone... so of course i can't go back to that info. THANKS!!!

stock is the best. MSD and Accel actually dyno'd a loss in power.

Thats nice... good thing i didn't buy one then. Is there any plus in just getting a new stock coil? Do these things fail that often?

if there's anything ford did awesome on our cars, it was the stock ignition system.

Accel is very iffy for our cars.
MSD is proven good.
Stock is proven best.

My MSD pulled the same numbers as my stock when I was messing with them.

Never had a Accel.

just pull one of your wires about an inch away from the coil while the car is running and tell me if you think you need more spark, still in doubt, put your finger in there....:)

I felt a little bit of a difference when I installed my MSD coil pack. It felt to me like a little better throtle response. But I havent dynoed with and without so its just a feeling. lol Hope that helps.

It was Accel that had common problems for our cars.
MSD usually was fine.
Ford also usually makes the best stock plug wires - I've always liked them.

I was running an MSD coil for about a year, but I just put my stock one back in last week. I was having a problem where, every time I started the car, the idle would drop to about 400-500 RPM's, almost stall, and then after about 20-30 seconds it would be fine... until I shut the car off. Then it would do the same thing all over again on the next start. I figured I'd try putting my stock coil back in and the problem has been gone ever since. It's been almost 2 weeks now.

I havent had any issues with my MSD...

But speaking of checking the spark. I had just installed my 6AL MSD on my camaro, with 50,000 volts and 8 Amps. I was timing the motor in, and the coil boot was off a lil and shocked the piss outa me. I woke up on my shop floor about 2ft away from the car. Iv sworn by my MSD products ever since then! lol
