Hey guys, just wanted to know, what happens if we use a 99 MAF on a 98 car? My guess is it's gonna work but the car is just not gonna use the built in IAT...

But I'm also wondering if the range of returned values will be the same cuz it could mean issues in that case.

THanks

It will run fine for the most part, results of the maf may be a little off due to the different position of the IAT. I have a 00 maf on my 98 and the car runs fine. Probably not 100%, but it's just my daily driver so I didn't really care.

If you get your wiring right, it should be fine.

I mean, on a completely stock 98... no wiring change.

I mean, I'm just installing the 99 MAF on a 98 car as is. so I'm not doing anything else but unplugging the old one and plugging the new one.

.....99.5 and lower is same as 98, right?

How did you wire in the plugs for the maf and iat sensors from a six wire to separate 2 and 4 wires without wiring is what the question is, I believe...

The plug is the same... only diff is the 2 wires at the extremities of the plug are unused in the 98...

Just diassemble the plugs and put the two IAT wires in the other plug then. IDK what kind of connectors these use, but at work we use Deutsch conectors on everything....they are pretty easy to take apart.

The change in location of the IAT might give you a colder reading.....but that's good right?

Don't worry about the IAT location. Extremely minor to no difference.
But you gotta have wires to it!
