Nice guns guys, I'm thinking of getting shot gun myself my dad has a mossberg 20ga with a short barrel and pump action but I think I wanna get a 12ga mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel so I could go hunting/shoot some clays then get a 18.5 inch barrel to leave on the gun when its @ home for protection.
Any thoughts?

I actually owned one of those in .40S&W. I absoutly loved it. Granit it is a cheap knock off of a Glock but mine handled fairly well. Accuracy wasn't bad at 25yards.
FYI on ammo-
Not sure about yours but mine shot the best on Wal-mart ammo vs. expensive. I got better feed and reliability using CCI Blazer hollowpoints. Remengton didn't do to bad either.
Had some feeding problems with Winchester, Gold Dot, Hydra Shocks and Wolf.

I've been using Winchester, but I've only put 100 rounds through it so far. I actually wanna end up getting some of those Pow-R-Ball rounds for keeping in a magazine at home. I hear they're pretty much end-all self defense rounds.

Im not very impressed with the Mossberg 500s. It was a toss up between that and the Remington 870 and i found i liked the 870 a lot better. Both 500s i tried had problems, one dropped shells out the bottom as u pumped randomly and the other the safety would jiggle and slide on by itself. The 870 feels a lot better made too with a smoother action. I know a lot of people like the 500 better but this is just my observations from personal experiences.

They aren't the "end all" ammo people crack them up to be.
If you have children or animals, I would suggest Extreme Shock for home use. They've been tested, tried and true.

Aaron: Mossberg's are not great guns. Affordable, yes, but you get what you pay for.
New england/h&r are famous for theyre single shot rifles/shot guns. I own a few. They started making pump guns now, i beleive its called the pardner pump or defender. One or the other. Id trust one of those over a mossberg anyday.

Yep. I just like knowing that if I miss a shot, the round will not go through wall after wall and chance hitting my daughter. They are expensive. Very expensive. In stores for 8 rounds of .45ACP is about $20. Most ammo sizes come in packs of 8 and all are around $20. Well worth it though for a piece of mind.

i bought my mossberg for 150 used, it works great, never had a problem with it. go to your local gun shops, ask if they can get a siaga 12 guage. it is a russian semi auto shotgun, nice looking, and smooth shooting. i think the price is between $320-360 which is pricey but completely worth it.

well i got the mossberg 500 12ga, 28" barrel, I found out that mossberg had problems because of some of their guns reload mechanisims were plastic now they have changed all the insides to metal and the guns are supposed to be great.
I got it for 219.99 plus tax, I need to get some ammo now a cheap gun case and maybe a kick pad for the butt of the gun since im a pussy.
All im debating now is taking it back for a 20ga cause i could mooch ammo off my dad and uncle.
MrWeeyums
04-23-2008, 07:47 PM
12ga ammo is cheap and sold everywhere. Youll regret it if u exchange it for a 20ga. They dont kick that badly anyway. I have a metal stock with no padding and fire 3" mag slugs from it.

I said well I like shooting and hopefully 100% of the time i'll be doing target shooting or hunting with it. Her reply: well then can't you rent a gun, my relpy I don't want to rent plus if I did that I wouldn't have the gun for home protection incase I needed it. She said oh my god, your crazy whats the odds of someone breaking into your house, (well my future in-laws had theirs broken into and they live in a really nice area) I didn't tell her this, then she proceeded to tell me good luck not going to jail if you shoot someone in your house your gonna have to prove they provoked you, I said well thats gonna be hard when I put 3 12ga. shells through them and they can't come to the trial. {end rant lol}

Here might be the place to ask the question...what is involved when getting a pistol permit? My father has PLENTY of rifles but I've always wanted a pistol, not for concealed carrying or anything, but I'm afraid of getting shot down. I'm only 19 so I don't really have any use other than recreational for it. Just curious as to the process/time it takes to get one and reasons I wouldnt be able to? Like I said, I'm 19...no arrest's/tickets.....other than a few parking ones. Any input?

I searched real quick. Googled NY pistol permit.
How much does it cost?
There is a $105.25 fee for NYSDCJS (New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services) upon submission of your application. Fee must be paid by money order only.
How long does it take to process?
Approximately 6 to 8 months.

Gotta be 21 to own a pistol. You apply for a pistol permit. If your background check passes, your able to own one.
I think you needed to reword that a little better....oh well.
Now, local and state laws for your carry permit are different than actually buying a firearm.
To purchase a handgun, you need to be 21, no felony convictions or pending cases, preferably no misdameaners after the age of 18, no DUI or drug charges etc. That is the federal guide lines for the purchase of a handgun. If at anytime during the background check (of which you pay for at your local gun shop) if the government see any type of "red" flag, they will automatically deny your purchase of the handgun. You can however contest the results within 3 days. If they deny you the purchase, the state/federal government is required to send you a statement stating why you were denied.
In some cases, my friends have went to purchase a firearm, been denied the background check, only to be called 2 days later by the gunshop saying you are now approved. That's the way the governmet works, nothing you can do or say to change things.....
CCW or conceled carry wepon permits are provided by the state. (some states won't allow CCW permits unless you are police, military, detective etc...it's their choice.) You have to go through a state certified "CCW" class that is generally 8 to 16hrs depending on the state requirements. (Yes you will pay for the class as well, generally $60 to $100 in most states. Once the class is conducted, you will head out to the gun range to "qualify" with the firearm you brought/own. If you pass everything with flying colors, you will get a certificate stating you went throught the state certifide class. You will then go to your local DMV and present the certificate, fill out more paperwork, pay anywhere from $120 to $200 (once again depends on the state) get your mug shot taken, fingerprinted and leave with aboutly nothing but a bad taste in your mouth and a little $ lighter. Then you wait. Depending on the state, they (the state) have 30 to 90 days to approve or deny you. If they choose to deny you, you loose all of your money you have spent on the permit classes and the money spent at the DMV, peorid. There is no way to get it back no matter what you try to do. This is usually the deterent for most people because the thought of loosing up to $300 puts everyone on edge. Within the 30 to 90 day peorid, you will either get your handgun liscense sent to you in the mail, or you'll get your denial papers.
Remember, you can own a firearm, but your state can still deny you a CCW permit based on any damn thing they deem fit to deny you for.
You really need to "google" your local and state firearm regulations and information. Usually you can find this information on any "state".gov website. Read all of the laws and rules of a CCW permit and determin if you are comfortable with attempting to obtain one.
FYI, I purchased my Kimber .45ACP for $800, then I paid $65 for my CCW class, then I paid $120 to the state for the CCW permit. So with tax I spent a little over $1000 to purchase my firearm and get my permit. Sure some guns are cheaper than others just like some states will be cheaper than others on their classes and permit costs......that was just to give you an idea of what I paid for mine.
Anything I didn't answer for anyone??
Keep asking questions, I'm glad to help anyone out.....

I havent gotten a pistol permit yet. I probably will one of these days but its too expensive and too much of a hassle right now.

You don't have to take the class if you are/were military. The pictures I had taken at Wal-Mart for $15. The fingerprinting costs $10 at your local precinct. Paying for the permit is the only expensive part, well besides getting the gun. The money is refundable in my state if you are denied. Man, got to love Florida.

Florida may be different but anyone should check with their local state laws before you do anything. Even though you may in the military at the ages of 18-20, you may still not purchase a handgun or obtain a permit in any state. That is a Federal Law and coincides with the "21" drinking law for military personel as well. What you can do on your base is different from what you can do off base.

There is no "Federal Law" on a 21 drinking age. That is all state law, in all states that want federal funding for the highway.

What set up were you using??(type of gun, scope, ammo etc.) Has the .308 been sight corrected? At the range you were at with a .308, there seems to be some issues, either with you or the gun. The few .308's I've had the pleasure of playing with were either dead nuts on or shot lower right every time. I see where you have a few "groups both to the right and the bottom of center. Were you feeling for your range or was that the rifle??

zx2loon it is my Cil 950T target rifle, with a tasco 6-24x scope, and i was using remington hunting ammo(all i could get, thanks to Dicks sporting goods crappy ammo selection). I know you weren't trying to be a smart ass.
Had to take my bi-pod off because the tables they have at the range suck. With the bi-pod on I was aiming 2-3 ft above the target(and i was getting annoyed trying to sit up or change my seating position on every shot), after I took the bi-pod off i pulled out a head rest from my truck and used it to kinda help steady my hand.
I was kinda angry, hadn't really messed with the adjustments much to correct my grouping, wasn't really taking my time for each shot, and that range is always very windy during the day.
Hopefully next time won't be as windy and not as hot. I usually shoot prone with my bi-pod, but I couldn't yesterday because the mirage effect i was getting.

I pretty much looked at all the pictures of the weapons as I went through and I thought I would put my future plans in. I am in the Army and one tour to Iraq under my belt. I am assigned a M-16A2 and a M-249 Saw. I am the gunner for the Mark 19 and the .50 cal machine gun. (I love both dearly). My only complaint about the M16 is that it is to freaking long. M-4 is much better suited for the purpose.
On to what I plan to get after I leave the Army in 2010 (whenever we get back that is)
-M-4 with all the assault goodies attached
-Short barrel Shotgun
-2 Glock .45's
I am not a hunter, never have, doubt I ever will, but if the shit hits the fan, I want to be more than ready to defend myself.

All kinds of stuff. I just like firearms.....I pick up a new one every once in a while- disassemble, study, clean, sometimes modify/finish, reassemble. Sometimes I keep and shoot them, sometimes trade them off. They are interesting to say the least....some of my favorites have been an SKS-D (Not a D as described online, but a factory AK conversion without any markings.....real slick, like the heft of it vs an AK) and a russian Makarov. Both of them far exceeded my expectations as to accuracy and performance, and are extremely reliable if maintained (kinda like cars huh). Piss on anyone who says otherwise, they obviously haven't shot one or never clean them if they have.

My sks was accurate before i put the scope on now it just sucks. I have to re-zero every time i go to the range, thanks to a crappy scope mount design, it needs to be drilled and tapped to the receiver.

Here's a little info for you while your urinating...
Big difference between a "factory" AK, Chinese SKS and the Sino Soviet
AK-45/AK47. You may think you know something about these rifles but it's apperant you don't. Did you forget about the Yugoslavian M-70 Zastava?? It's a sister AK.
You may have your own opinion and I can respect that but you don't need to come into this thread and and say "Piss on anyone who says otherwise, they obviously haven't shot one or never clean them if they have" Trust me, some of these guys in this thread have more experiance and knowledge of firearms then you. And everyone of us has had a SKS. They are easily obtained for around $150 to $200 all day long. Usually cheaper at Flea Markets.
Now, if you'd like to, post some pics of your rifle collection, and continue with freindly conversation, but keep the smartass comments to your self please.

those of you who use a gun for home protection, do you keep it locked or no? I'm struggling with the decision, locked in the dark I can get out of bed open my case grab my hidden key unlock the gun and chamber a round....... but i wonder if it will be quick enough just in case.
Depends on weather or not you have children or how you feel about it. My wife's Glock is "cocked and locked" in her bed side table drawer. My Kimber is "cocked an locked" (always mind you) and holstered in my bed side holster
at night.
It's not the fear of my daughter comming into our bedroom and playing with the guns but rather the fear of not having them ready when the moment counts. Having a firearm and being "safe" with it is different than having a firearm ready while being "safe and responsible". Every morning my wife decocks her Glock and puts it in the gun safe. My firearm is always on myself or in it's carrying case locked during the day, at night, it gets put into the bedside holster.
A rifle or shot gun is different. Long guns can be hard to handle and kept ready if not kept under the bed or leaned up againt the wall during the night. You can always place it back up during the day. Just make it a habbit every morning to put it away and to get it back out every night.

I used to leave mine standing in the corner by my nightstand, safety off, with one in the chamber, (livin close to the ghetto makes you feel like you need to do that)until it fell one night and i realized, wow, that could have been my life. now i keep it loaded under my bed cuz the way my room is you cant see anything

I guess leaving one in the chamber would depend on what type of piece it was. I won't leave my Raven +1, but I have no fears of my S&W with one in the chamber since it has a decocker...........

I want a .410/45 derringer. Why you might ask?
I have no answer for that. It is really a very impractical gun that's only good use would be to stop a mugger in close contact. Beyond that, it is simply a wrist breaker with about 3 shots worth of amusement before you start getting fatigued.
I'd say I want the taurus "judge" but....not for 450 bucks. My 357 with shot shells works fine for snakes on the trail so I can't even justify it that way.
Oh and for those that remember that I wanted a glock 22c...I am buying it in august. But I am looking into the gun after that which I will probably be buying in October.
All the guns are at my dads. We are cleaning everything this weekend after we do ball joints on his truck. So I will get pics this weekend.

Bayonet lug or flash suppressor?
While Denver is a hippy city, overall here in Colorado our rights are fairly well protected.....though there are assholes trying to change that all the time. Not a lot of stuff is restricted, and you can buy a handgun if you're over 21. You can even legally have a loaded and chambered handgun or revolver in your vehicle "for protection of person and property in transit" per state law, which also "shall supercede all munincipality laws in regards to this subject"
I wouldn't buy a house in Denver due to their regulating +20 mags and mandatory ballistic sample/registration bullshite. Highest crime rate in the area, and also the most regulations......go figure, look at D.C.

what is a tapco conversion?
J_Mob
07-12-2008, 12:16 AM
Well Tapco is a manufacturer. They are a US company, so some of the parts they make count as sec 922R compliance parts. I'm using the term conversion since I turned an sks from normal config (well, mine wasn't normal to begin with but besides the point) to a tactical configuration (for lack of a better term). By using enough US made parts, you change the way the ATF views the rifle (i.e. from an import to a US made) wich changes what is viewed as legal to be on the rifle (i.e. most ak's for sale any more are made from parts kits with the minimum amount of US parts to make them legal by federal standards). it's a bunch of bullshit, but anyways the parts looked cool. Here is a stock photo...mine was with the black instead of green. you can look up Tapco (add guns or sks if you google- tapco is also a tool company).
http://www.tapco.com/Show_image.aspx?id=b0fee221-4a27-477e-a4c4-c2648371627c&s=s

Sucks. You can't even use the stock with the original mag?
I needed to relace the folding stock the guy I bought it from had put on there (it is a "D", plus I hate the side folders anyways) and I found the Tapco setup. It's not bad....still all plastic but then what isn't anymore I guess. I'm not sure about the vertical grip-it feels a little akward but I'll have to shoot it to tell for sure.
One thing I can say-if after putting all these US manufactured parts (conformance parts or whatnot) it doesn't shoot as good as it used too, I am going to be pissed. I have never had a jam, missfire, or slam fire to date with it-if it's all crappified by the conformance parts I am going to think conspiracy. Luckily I have all the old parts (except the stock, unfortunately).
MrWeeyums
07-16-2008, 09:45 AM
I cant remember exactly the story with the stock, but Cabellas wont even ship them to NY. Its somethin like the number of "assault rifle features". I have a Yugo sks, so id have to pull off the bayonette, grenade launcher, night sights, etc... to be able to use that stock cause it would no longer be classified as a curio/relic. Its a whole load of bs laws that are confusing and frustrating.
~Ryan
J_Mob
07-16-2008, 10:48 AM
Yeah that's the conformance law I was talking about (having to take off the grenade launcher and stuff). Tapco has a kit with all the parts for converting a Yugo into a US made weapon per that sec 922r bullshite. Now if NY has an actual ban on rifles classified as "assault" type weapons then once you made it federally legal you'd be breaking local law. SUCKS 4 U (JK) :)
What the hell is an "Assault" weapon anyways? I could assault someone with a rock...and once used to commit assault the rock would be considered a weapon.

Yes those are my S&W's-a pair of 469's. The first gun I ever bought was a Raven P-25 that didn't work. The first real gun I bought (second:)) was the top 469.....and I finally found a partner for it not too long ago, that came with enough extra parts to spruce the old one back up and have two. They are awesome pistols IMO. Not too complicated-just enough to get required performance. Fairly accurate for the barrel lengths, and reliable as long as clean and well fed (they didn't like Silver Bear at all..). I know there are many better pistols in the modern age, but for some reason this one took to me.
Can you tell I've got an attachment?

full size frame 4" bull barrel. the basic of basic models. planning to do a full trigger job, night sights, polish feed ramp, and have the ejection port cleaned up. might have the whole thing recoated jet black then too.
man did I underestimate the amount of parts in the 1911. ill be attempting to detail strip it tonight. I figured out how to field strip it.
feed problems can be fixed easily with a bit of either good parts or a polishing wheel.

I want a gun. Is there a hand gun that you guys would recommend for a beginner I guess?
I was in the Army, so I've used some rifles and such, but I just want a small hand gun.
the first handgun I shot was a .357 with a 38+p round in it. 5 round revolver. 3" barrel. Easy to learn on, easy to shoot.
A few of my friends that are beginners got Smith and Wesson Sigmas. 2 got 9mm, 1 got a .40s&w. I personally do not care for the s&w trigger. It seems too flimsy or toylike. But all but 1 loves it. That one is Got Milf and I haven't heard whether he likes it or not yet. I would assume he does.
I'd suggest a 9mm for a first gun. You will grow old of anything less in a semi auto. If you want a revolver I'd suggest a .357 and start out with .38 rounds in it to learn the gun.
I think my next pistol is probably going to be a small carry revolver or a taurus "the judge" .410(walking through the woods use)

I've shot my cousins smith an wesson sigma .40 the most.
However the sigma is a heavy trigger, however you can pick one up new for 319, its a great starter gun but, if you have a bit more to spend i would recommend a Springfield XD, IMO its the best deal on a handgun out there a new one can be had for about $500 but it includes a holster a speed loader and a couple magazines it also can be had in almost any caliber. Glocks are awesome guns too nice trigger squeeze for a beginner they have alot to offer in a modification standpoint and you can pick up a used police trade in at a local gun shop for less than $400 Glocks last forever from what I hear too.
No matter what I'd get a 9mm the rounds are cheap I love the .40 but the rounds are almost 2x the price of the 9mm and the knock down of a 9mm is more than sufficient esp with hallow points.
Check out gunbroker.com sometime also.
good luck,
aaron. :biggun::biggun:
I did a side by side comparo with my glock 22, full size 40 and my buddy john's xd full size 40. The xd shoots well, but honestly the glock is much smoother. All things considered I'd buy both... Glock and a very very close second to xd. BUT typically when I hear newbie I hear "I don't want to spend TOO much" and that leaves out A LOT of guns.
P.S. I just ordered a blued beaver tail grip safety and jig from wilson combat. While I was there I ordered a skeletonized match trigger and some stainless hex head grip screws. (for the 1911)
I will likely be ordering an extended tactical thumb safety, extended slide lock, trigger kit, and nicer grips in the near future.
I will be going this week to the gun shop to talk about some new night sights.

If you can find a Makarov (Pistolet Makarova) pistol they are good, reliable, and still fairly cheap. You can find them in 9mm makarov and .380 acp. They are milsurp (or commercial versions in mil spec) based off Russian design. They are fairly easy to clean up, and parts are dirt cheap. I would go for a Russian first, then German, then Bulgarian. Yugo guns are not true Maks, but are still cheap and pretty good from what I have heard.
Other than that I would suggest a 9mm due to the cheap plentiful ammo, usefullness in self defense, and overall balance. I would suggest something along the lines of a S&W 59/69 or a CZ75, either of which should be easily attainable in the 300-400 dollar range used-maybe cheaper depending on the area. They are both proven designs in their many forms...

My dad has a Makarov. It's ok. Recoil gets old, real fast. Your hand will hate you.

They're not that bad on recoil....the ones I shot were all .380 acp versions but the bullet is basically identical in properties. The 9mm Mak is a little hotter but not by much.
I got to ask if you were shooting hand loads or factory, what kind of shape the piece was in and what version it was, and if it was old........they make replacement springs for them. I wouldn't say a Makarov pistol has much recoil at all IMO......

Well I've had a lot of these things... currently I still have my G26 and G27, and after about 5 years of having them completely stock, last night I ordered the following:
Factory extended slide release x 2
3.5lb disconnect and NY-1 trigger x 2
+2 mag caps (I had +1's on the .40 and grip extensions on the 9) x 4
Bar-Sto stainless drop-in barrel with reverse rifling x 2
BigDot sights x 2
That should keep me happy for a long while I think. I have probably put 7-8,000 rounds through each of these and not one problem at all, not one jam, nothing.

Isn't the lifespan on a Glock rated at 5000 rnds or something like that?

07-24-2008, 02:32 PM
Not really... things can start to break from wear at around that range I guess, but they are extremely cheap to repair and are all DIY repair jobs. I have had no issues with either of mine what-so-ever. I know guys who have put 10-15,000 rounds through theirs and not had to replace anything yet, so I'd venture to say no. They are less prone to malfunction than most others on the market.

^I’m the same way, I can talk about guns all day. The lifespan on guns or anything mechanical all rely on basic maintenance. As long as you clean your guns and oil/grease them regularly there should be no problems. Some internal parts may brake and the barrel will eventually wear to a point were it is less accurate; but considering the bullets are so soft compared the barrels this will take a very long time.

Yeah, definitely^^ about the maintenance (like vehicles too). I've deducted (and been told by others) that * is the reason for my success with chinese pieces. I generally do a complete strip and clean after every use if I have time........

but will it replace your 1911 in carry duty?
Not quite sure yet, I'll have to play with it, then decide.
ive heard 1911's have some feeding problems is this true?
Depends. Most are tollerant of all types of ammo. Most feed well and gobble up anything thrown at them. Then you get to the high dollar ones. Custom jobs like some Caspians or Kimbers, Wilson Combat, and others. The tollerances for these are tighter than basic GI issue 1911's...so it really depends on what you buy and what type of ammo. The only issues I have had with my Kimber was shooting Wal-mart's ammo. No CCI, Winchester or Ruger rounds for me, they have a bad habit of expansion of the brass cases and cause stove pipe jams.
^Gunslinger- plus revolvers will always go boom if there is a good bullet in it. Kind of a trade of in capacity for reliability and the ability to shoot a hotter load. Nice stainless piece....I don't know if I would have traded an AK off for it, but that's just my opinion.
Not always....ammo can be very deceiving. Their are times the primmers don't work.
not sure what type of coating yet. id just like it black... accessories will be polished for that ooooo aaaaaaahhhh effect
Go with a professional Ceramic coating. Here in TN, we have Preditor Customs that do those types of jobs. There should be a store near you that can do it as well. Only $120 or so for most places. You strip the gun of it's parts and take what you want to the guy to coat and whola....your home with a killer firearm...
I want a gun. Is there a hand gun that you guys would recommend for a beginner I guess?

Go with a Ruger P89. Cheap, reliable, built like a tank. Other than that, I'd go with Tauras' Beretta knock off. Once again cheap, reliable, built like a tank.
Now when I say cheap, I mean $400. S&W Sigma's are cheaper on the wallet, but not a good starter gun. For those who buy a Sigma, they might as well go with a Jennings, which can be found in Pawn shops for about $150.
This is my opinion. I had a Sigma as well in .40, it sucked ass and shot like shit. You'd be better off throwing it at someone.

Sweet...is that AB model pre or post ban??
[QUOTE=J_Mob;86079]Isn't the lifespan on a Glock rated at 5000 rnds or something like that?
Absoutly not!! Those things are "forever". Hell, the spring life span on my Kimber is 50K rounds before they say you need to change them. Glocks like most reliable firearms are rate life spans of at least 30K to 40K rounds before you get into having issues. That takes into consideration your taking care of your gun
Huh, I just thought I had read that somewhere. Maybe it was service life for duty use (like department issue) or something.
This is true for your law enforcement officers. Knox County allows the service Glocks 7K rounds before it is turned in, sold to the general public and replaced with a new one. The only ammo fired from them are Gold Dots. Keep in mind, this is my county which I live in. Your county or state might be different.

They aren't really that bad, they are S&W version of the Glock. Had many of the old school S&W fans actually went with Sigma's, they would have produced a better version with time. Unfortunatly, many people have decided that it's a "cheap" version of a Glock so no one took to them. Many people have had bad experiances with the .40 but not with the 9mm. The .40's have cracked frames and broken parts more than the 9mm. Then again it could be the "hot" ammo used in the guns. The feed reliability of mine wasn't fantastic but wasn't reliable enough to consider it as a "carry" firearm.
There are those who really don't want a gun for any thing other than "home" protection, these are still not a very wise choice. For home protection, I recomend a revolver. Kinda the "set it and forget it" mode. Most people who buy for home protection don't want the hasel of cleaning and maintaining a firearm. Therefore revolvers are terrific. Semi auto's aren't good for the simple fact of, once they are cocked and locked, the springs are under tension. Keep it like that for a couple of months to a year and you just ruined your chances of your firearm being reliable.
My Glock sits at home cocked and locked for my wife. Every couple of weeks I take it out and excersise it and clean it and return it to it's resting place. My Kimber of which I carry is cleaned on the average of every two weeks. Usually someone somewhere wants to shoot it so I let them fire off one of the clips and call it a day....
Don't know why I made this post this long other than the almost usless info I have put in the reply....

I keep my 469's cocked and locked. They are hammer fired SA/DA vs the spring fired striker though. The biggest problem I have is the clips.....have to take them apart sometimes and stretch the springs out too keep them from misfeeding at the last few rounds. I swap the mags out every few months as well just to keep from completely ruining them (I have like 8 of them so it's easy to rotate the mags out for me).
Did you ever see the end of the world kit for the Sigmas....was like a pelican case with a sigma, clips, light, radio, other stuff. Good thing too many people didn't end up using them to fight of mutants :)

No...I never saw the kits. Would have been funny though....some one needs to find a pic of the kit and post it here....
I have 10 clips for my Kimber and 8 (including 3 high cap mags) for my Glock.
Springs are changed out every 6 months to a year depending on use and whether or not they are just "range" mags or "carry" mags. You can never have too many mags.......
