I went out and bought one of these switches:

I plan on installing it in my cubby and running my remote wire through it to my amp for a quick in-car amp cutoff. It has 3 prongs, 1 being a ground. My question is, though it may be a stupid and simple question, after grounding the switch, do I just run the remote wire into one prong and out the other? I didn't know if the light on the switch would change any voltages or amps or anything. I'm no electrical engineer. As I said before, I know this is a stupid question but I'd much rather be safe and not screw anything up.

it should be labeled g or have the ground symbol kinda resembles a triangle...one should be labeled 12v or in, run the wire from your deck to this prong and connect the remote wire from the amp to the other prong which is normally labeled aux or out

I used that exact switch. Awsome to use, and that light is bright enough you can see it but not so bright it blinds you... You will know if you have the 2 buttons on backwards because the light will not turn off... I know the ground is marked and the other 2 are marked... But good choice on a switch. I put mine right under the dash on the right hand side right in the plastic... Out of the way, you cant really see them and they are accessable

Good to hear. I was hoping it wouldn't be too bright.
