I know I've seen people post what they have gotten for used CAT converters at junkyards. A guy at work said he got $110 for one off his Golf around a month ago. Just the other day, I was talking to a used car dealer and he said the price went down a lot recently.
I know there is a topic in this section of the forum regarding CAT converters and a few prices in there, but I'd like to see exactlly what people are getting.
Reason:
I currently have 2 ZX2 converters, and a 240sx converter. I will soon be pulling the CAT off my 99, and also the one off my dads 99 because we both got Kamikazee headers and Trubendz exhausts.
I'd like to make a dent in the cost that it was for the Kami/Trubendz setup.

Just did some more searching on google.
Platinum is $1210.50 an ounce currently. An article I found says that a typical converter contains 3-7 grams of platinum.
There are 28.349 grams in an ounce.
At $1210.50 an ounce, that would mean the converter would be worth $128-$298
Platinum used to be around $2,250 an ounce. Which would make them worth $238 - $555.
That is based on their metal value tho... you will never see all of that from a scrap yard because they need to make money off of it.
WOW.

Guys in the Chicago area are using Sawz Alls to cut the cats off of parked vehicles, to sell for the scrap platinum.
