Anybody else besides me actually like NASCAR?

I like NASCAR too, I would prefer them rolling back some of the competition rules, not safety ones. The one rule I hate is that the top 35 are locked in the show. What use is qualifying anymore. All cars should be go or go home.

I second that. Keep the provisional system, but drop the top 35 in owners points deal. We have seen go or go home cars have qualifying speeds faster then guys in the top 10 and not make the race. BS rule IMO.

Huh?? If the qualifying speed is faster than the top ten they don't make the race?? Speed is speed and qualifying time is qualifying time. If they go faster and make a better time then the guys in the top ten....no matter who you are, your in the race. You qualify on time, your in no matter what. It's actually the Provisional system that keeps some of the cars that can qualify on time out of the race. Past Champions Provisionals are the ones I don't think should be allowed. If you can't make the 43 car field by lap times, you shouldn't get the chance to race. The fastest 43 cars should be the only ones on the track...everyone else, can try next time.
Ok, now that I said that, I'm actually a fan of all three divisions of Nascar. My all time favorite drivers are Bobby Labonte and Tony Stewart. I know Bobby Labonte will never win another championship and won't get much of an oppertunity to drive for anyone like Gibbs again. He was one of the first drivers I ever got to meet as a kid and is absoutly one of the nicest guys to chat with. Years ago my father bought pit passes for Bristol and I got to actually talk to him and sit in his mobile home with his wife and kids and his brother Terry Labonte. A year later, he won the championship while with Gibbs.
Stewart on the other hand, is just a very talented driver. Mindful buisness owner and an all around ass. Kind of reminds me of myself. With him moving on to Stweart/Hass racing next year, I guess all my "Home Depo" items are trash! :p
I could make numerous posts about Nascar as well as drag racing. F1, Indy, and tons of other types of racing. I just enjoy it all.......:wiggle:

True.....but remember, racing is racing, no matter how it's done. Road courses, drag strips, circle tracks all have their pro's and con's to people.
But it's still all about racing!!:p

Times have changed. They changed from origional showroom dealership cars to aerodynamic rockets.
As far as Toyota.......Toyota never had a chance until Gibbs picked them up. The Gibbs program with Kyle Bush and Tony Stweart really boosted all of the Toyota teams to a competing level. So what if a foreign car enters Nascar.........just another reason to race harder against the competetion. :judge:

I like all forms of racing (although drag racing to a lesser extent than oval, road course, off-road or rallying.)
People who think driving in a circle, 2 or 3 wide, don't realize these cars are being driven at the limit. I have respect for anyone who can drive week after week and only have an occasional crash and for drivers who lose it, then gather the car up, recover and keep going.

It's not that I don't respect them for the skill it takes... I never said I could get out there and do it ;) I just said it's not entertaining to me.
I don't follow much of any racing TBH, but I'm more in to things like WRC or open track or indy... But NASCAR takes skill, I just personally don't find it entertaining, but I do understand what they are doing and what it takes to do it.

I dont like it as much as I did years ago.. the cars are to spec.. not as much wiggle room to be creative.. the drivers personalities are watered down nowdays to make it more tv friendly for the series and the sponsors .. it was MUCH more colorful in years past.. I also miss the short track roots of it.. man.. who CANT miss Rockingham.. Dover couple of times every year.. they keep taking dates from all the historic tracks.. sooner or later theyll all be gone..I remember watching when there were GAURDRAILS in places.. now I realize for safety somethings had to change..but I feel its to corporate now.. just my opinion..
What I miss seeing on tv nowdays is the btcc, wrc, can-am style racing.. THOSE were good series to watch..

I still like it......and I like it alot. Still try to hit Bristol every year and Charlotte. Haven't been to Daytona in years, I hit Talladega 5 years ago and haven't been back, Atlanta is always a good race so I try to attend it once a year......been to Sonoma and the Vegas tracks as well. Seeing a race live is totally different than watching it on TV which can get boring.....
As far as smokers...as one, I always try to be very polite to people. Most venues are now smoke free so that is becomming a thing of the past....

When I went to dover , we did the saturday race first which was really exciting lots of crashes and such.. The race on sunday was completely boring. No crashes or anything. Maybed 2 cautions the entire race. i think sometimes u get lucky sometimes y dont. Of course it helps when you hve quite a few people with you also.

Huh?? If the qualifying speed is faster than the top ten they don't make the race?? :
Incorrect statement. The top 35 owners points is good because some of the very best drivers in the sport (yes, I said sport cause that's exactly what it is) have a minor issue with their car, and wouldn't do well during qualifying. If you had the top 5 drivers in the Chase for the Cup have a tire go down during qualifying, then why would you even run the race? Qualifying speed is qualifying speed, agreed. But, sometimes someone's speed might be faster than everyone of the track, but if his line is crappy, then guess what? He qualifies 28th! There are 35 cars locked in, and 43 can make the race. Name me 1 time that you have seen (and maybe some proof) a no-named crappy driver from a crappy team sit pole. Lower end drivers make the top 10 all the time. What happens by lap 20? They are generally in 20th place, or worse because they can't keep up. But generally speaking, the top 35 cars are the best cars on the track. They qualify faster, and run the track faster than the other cars that aren't locked in, etc. You get too many slow cars on the track, and it'll cause more problems than anything else.

What you quoted was a question not a statement from me. I was being retoricle to him by using his statement as a question back to him. You should have quoted this below....

and made your reply to him. :D

i agree with alot of that. as far as toyota, as far as they go, there built more in the states then what the domestics are. I do wish there was more wiggle room though too. like most of you too, i wish all spots were go or go home and nothing was set till all cars were timed.

nascar is gay and boring. If the reverted back to factory cars then I'd feel a lot better about it. Even if they did do that I still wouldn't care because watching people drive in a circle is not my idea of a good time. I wish speed would ditch all their extra bullshit coverage form nascar and replace with something that is actually interesting to watch.

i'm not really into it because it's marketed as a spectator sport..but i find it more boring than baseball..if that's possible. they should liven it up...take away the power tools in the pits..that'll make for some fun programming :D
i understand they are awesome drivers, and pushing the limits...but it just doesn't grab my attention. and no offense to any of the NASCAR fans here...but i honestly can't stand most NASCAR fans i meet. not the everyday normal people..but the rednecks that think American cars are the only ones worth racing, and that Budweiser actually tastes good.
