I know I said I was gone from the site for a bit, but anyway. Timing belt snapped, 2 pulleys need to be replaced, and new accessory belt is needed. I need to raise $1000 to pay for all this so I am selling my SR cluster, and hotshot header.

I can't get to work or class without the car so its desperate.

azn. dont spend that much. even at the ford dealership it was only 400 for me. good look around if you do not want to do it yourself.

My parents had it towed to the dealership which I was against in the first place, and they already started work so I am kind of screwed.

Buy my shit

I'm about to head to the dealership to apply for a credit card with a ridiculous amount of interest 24% I think.

If the Z is titled in your name, tell the stealership that you did not authorize the repairs, and you want it back the way they got it!
Get it towed to the service station down the street, and get it done if you don't know how, or are too busy.
I'd rather be nut-kicked than pay a stealership for service!

If the Z is titled in your name,......

probably isn't.

just have mom and dad front the money and pay them back since they were the ones to send it to be fixed.

It is titled in my name, however they hold the title. I am going to try what dougie said. I hinted at borrowing money from the parents, but they don't really have/want to lend me some. I think it's under control.

Christ man, I can't believe this shit happens. Who would pay $1000 to get a belt changed? It cost me $91 for all 3 new pulleys and a belt. Took 3 hours to do. No offense, but if you pay $1000 to get it done, you deserve to be ripped off.

It still astonishes me that your parents have the nerve to fuck you in your ass and then say "Oh well, it's your car."

They took it to the place that charges $1000, they should pay the $1000. Hell, even Joe Blow the rip off mechanic might only charge you $5-600.

IT WASN'T my FAULT! lol. im matt's (azn zx2's) unofficial mechanic. Unfortunetly it was too late and he already had it at the shop. Plus i havents done a timing belt job yet and i don't wanna fuck up his car and leaving him stranded miles away from home.

thats crazy. when mine snapped i got all that done for 500 or so at my stealership and the only reason i didnt do it myself was because i had to have the car ASAP and couldnt wait for parts to come in at stores.

good lord there are sh**load of judgemental people here.

from your comments it sounds like you are living at home while you go to school. Your parents house, your parents rules. did you buy the car outright? even if you did I find it odd that your parents would just "hold" the title.

Suck it up, its a part of life and move on. The dealership is a business, they have to keep their doors open just like any other automotive repair business out there.

I wasn't complaining about how they hold the title, I was just pointing out it was kind of ironic. I live at home and am a full time student, and work full time. They paid for the car, and I am paying them back. I paid 6,000 them 6,000 in the first 5 months, but then went away to school.

Don't tell me to "suck it up" I realize it's part of life, and I know what a dealership is. If you think my "complaining" is that annoying, then just don't read it.

I do appreciate you pointing out that the dealership's prices are as is, and there's not much I can change about it though.

If it's HIS car, and is in HIS name and HE didn't sign paperwork agreeing to get the work done- then technically he can take the car without paying.

If you do sign for it, and then try to take it- that's where a mechanics lean comes into play. Our shop has got a couple cars this way. We've also had several people abandon cars in our lot.

What is mechanics lean

As far as I know- If you don't pay for work on your car, then the shop puts a lien on the title of the car for how much you owe them. If you don't pay up, they can buy the car for what is owed on it. If the car is still at the shop, they can refuse to give you the keys and call the cops and all that fun stuff.

I paid $300 for tow & repair. Do yourself a favor, go someplace else. even if you save $500 - it's so worth it

Um factory time according to the labor estimating guide is 3.1 hrs and thats if everything goes wrong.

Cost on the parts OEM of course

Belt 62.00

Pulley 30.30

Idler 65.25

Tensioner is 64.14

Parts Total is 221.73

Jesus what do they charge per hour... Also you could contact the better business buearu in your state to complain that 1 the price is outrageous and 2 as the owner you didnt authorize repairs.

in any event good luck with this....
