Anyone else besides me ever have a problem with the paint pealing along the bottom of the door and rocker panels, basically anywhere they factory chip guard is the paint isnt sticking ony have 45k on the car. And have to get it painted. had 185k on the one i totalled and it was fine. it was a 98 by the way the SR is a 00 in zinc yellow.

My black 2k SR roof paint is faded to hell. I'm planning on a custom paint job to solve it.

Nope. My '98 doesn't have any issues with the paint.

You sure you have a ZX2, not a neon?

Yeah, they had a few colors that would peel off like a sunburn.
White, Lapis Blue (my mom has one of these, had to get repainted), the Barney Purple...I think they used the wrong primer or something.
EVERY Lapis Blue Neon I've seen (made in 95, 96, 97) has the paint peeling off in huge chunks.
Look at this: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/409392
There's a problem when you can strip all of the paint off your car with an AIR HOSE.
My red one had nice paint though. :D

Yep I'm getting some paint peel under the hood and trunk jams. The primer under it looks good tho.:)

I was talking about on Neons. Maybe all cars just hate that color. :D

That happened to my sister to her 2000 ford mustang gt convertible. I guess we can blame dayrll from canada since he is responsible for painting the Ford's up in canada.

The way ford paints their cars is only meant to last 8 yrs tops.Since before all this market stuff people were trading in cars every two years.

Mine is 10 years old and looks practically new, even in PA with the winters and roads.

your paint job kinda seems like one from maaco. the previous owner of mine got it painted it there and a year later the paint is chipping and peeling all over the car, especially the front bumper. they left this huge bead of paint on the fender edge near the door. your paint looks a lot worse than mine, but mine seems to be headed in that direction

the only one I have had a problem with is my 99. I am guessing that the previous owner used dishwashing soap to wash the car. The clearcoat is gone from the hood and is fading from the rest of the car. Luckily, my others are all doing fine. :judge:
Nothing with my car. I have had a little orange peel(clear coat just slightly peeling) on the Mazda since it got resprayed in that area..all I did was wet sand it and came back and buffed it and polished. Came out perfect.

Are you the original owner? If not, do you know how the car was maintained before you got it?
I also have a zinc yellow 2000, and I have no issues with my paint. But, I am the original owner, and I know how well this car has been cared for.

I used to paint cars for a living.
Your yellow ZX2 peeling like that sort of looks like
the rockers have been repainted.
Did you buy it new?

My 99 has paint fade BAD on the roof and hood. I didnt realize dish washing sopa could do that to the paint. Ive never done washed my car with that but Im sure the po of the car did.
