So after Larka's thread about USPS damaging her stuff and my recent experience, I wanted to see what everyone thinks is the absolute WORST shipping company.

USPS
UPS
Fed Ex
DHL

Share your experiences and why you think they are the worst!

im not going to vote cause i don't dislike any of them i have only had one problem so far. that was when i shipped a strut tower bar, i did not get insurance cause the kid that bought it did not pay for it. my fault really. they lost the bar but not the end pieces. i had to give the kids money back after he shipped me the parts he received. it was a long process cause there was some miss communication over the phone about it. but it did get settled up. if i could remember who it was i sold it to i would sell to him again but i cant.

i just think UPS takes a long time, so i only use usps, or for the big items greyhound but they take a long ass time too

You forgot Greyhound.. Notorious for Shipping and then not notifying the reciever when it arrives at the station, and then sending it BACK to the shipper..

i was in ecuador for 2 years and my parents would send me packages. Pay for the shipping (cheaper than others) it would than arrive and all was happy. Well a couple weeks after each package would be like this 100$+ international bullcrap fee.....

UPS seems to be the most expensive for all their charges

UPS has to be the one with the most problem. I once sent out all the parts to install a sunroof into a ZX2. I had to make a special box for it. I got it packed and ready to go, measured and weighed it twice, then paid for shipping. I had the counterperson weigh and measure it again with no discrepancy. 2 weeks after it was delivered, UPS sent me a bill for an additional amount they claimed I owed them for the shipping. This went on for a couple of months. I had to let it go to a collection company before I could get anywhere with them on this. They finally stopped the BS and made sure that my account was in good standing and no negative rating on my credit report.
Good news because of all of this, UPS wanted to offer me a credit card with a high credit line. Yeah right, so they can just charge it onto the card if they screw up again?

I had it happen a couple times where I would come in and get something paid for and all and the next time I came in, they would tell me that they didn't charge me enough last time!

you know i can share a few stories of the damage i personally inflicted upon packages at UPS. heh.

they only care about production numbers and nothing else. customer service, delivery, bulk, nothing else matters to them. it's all about how many packages you can sort and how many of those can be crammed into 40' to 48' trailers, package cars, and igloos. during peak season, it's worse.

but yeah, we were all trained to care less about the packages. don't know if that's true outside of CA, but from some of the people i've talked to that have worked for UPS in other states, it's pretty close.

I just copied this from my other thread-
The worst I had was through UPS. I sent a set of Euro-style SVT Focus wheels with tires. One of the wheels got destroyed. When they showed me the picture of it, I almost fainted. I was like "WTF!!!!!! How do you do THAT?!" I see curb damaged wheels everyday. I see broke wheels at least once a week. But I'd never seen a wheel that bad. Half the spokes were busted out. Looked like they threw it off the truck a few times, then hit it with the truck, then hit it with the forklift and then threw it off the building. Thankfully, I got insurance on those, cause a replacement wheel is crazy through Ford.

To add to the story- the wheel had cardboard taped to both sides, and bubble wrap over the face. Then the tire was mounted to it- with 35psi in it. There was NO damage to the tire. Fun times, right?

For customer service- my worst experience was with DHL. Had a bumper shipped to me. Checked the tracking info online, about 3 days after it was supposed to be delivered to me- and it said it had been delivered. It hadn't been. I called them, they said they had delivered it. I told them it hadn't, they argued with me, then hung up on me. I called everyday for 2 WEEKS before someone went "oops, we still have it, we'll send it out on the truck today." 3 days later- I finally got it.

I got an exhaust kit for my Mustang. They sent me a Cobra set-up, so I shipped it back, and they waited. They messed up the shipping (USPS) and the exhaust company called me like 2 weeks after I shipped it back, saying they hadn't gotten it yet. Wondering what was going on. I explained, and they said ok. Then they FINALLY got it, and shipped me my kit. I got it like 2 weeks after they shipped it. By the time it was all said and done, I had ordered another kit (decided to go another direction) and installed it, and had been ridin' with it for 2 weeks. Sold the Magnaflow kit to a friend and have had my SLP loudmouth kit ever since.......I was pissed cause I had to pay for the original shipping AND to ship the wrong kit back.....Sucked!!

I can aso share a few stories like this from UPS. Not always intentionally damaging things but hey it does happen. I remember someone actually dropping a package from the sort tower and it falling on the floor, someone picked it up scanned it and literally through it on the truck. That place is nuts but I hate DHL no real reason other then the first time I saw a DHL truck the driver was throwing packages around in the back.
