a list of cars and the years that had turbos stock. You can find most of these in junk yards.

If you find a Buick GN in a junkyard, buy the whole thing.

junk
I'd feel safer runner a OEM turbo with 100,000 miles then I would a brand new Ching Chong Meow Maga JDM ebay special.

you are correct there....or you can just buy a real turbo. I just dont think junkyard and turbo setup should be in the same sentence but that's just me.

As long as you rebuild it i dont think there would be any problem with a "used" turbo.

I would'nt even bother rebuilding it. If it needs rebuilding, then dont buy it in the first place.

There are some worth while junk yard turbo's out there. My fav is 14b's, cheap and easy to find and replace. No trouble finding flanges for them either, and it can be replaced by a 16g. And 16g are getting cheap now to.
It'll make more power then the stock block Zetec can handle anyways.

Cant go wrong with the Ford 2.3 60 trim T3 either.

I've got a used oem T25 on my SPI and love it!

A turbo is a turbo. There are few parts that wear. Thrust bearing and main bearings (journals) are pretty much it. Buying a Garrett means there's a rebuild kit out there too if you look hard enough.

I have a turbo from a Volvo, Garrett series TB03 Oil/Water Cooled. I am rebuilding it and using if for my jet engine project.

If junkyard turbos were no good would people really be pumping various LIT gases through the turbine housing? I think not.

The TB03 is a very nice turbo and would make an absolutely perfect turbo for someone who is turboing their zx2 on a stock block. They are plentiful, too. I got mine for $50 + $50 rebuild kit = $100 brand new Garrett. *shrug*

Smooth: Chances are your turbo costs more than what a lot of people here want to pay for an entire turbo kit (on this website at least).

PS: Most Garrett turbos use the same size journals (main bearings). Same thing with the thrust bearing, so if you are looking to rebuild a Garrett you don't nessearily need the exact part number rebuild kit. Look up breakdowns (they exist) and check to see what could work for you.

PPS: One of the only differences I have seen between real Garretts and knockoffs is that Garretts come with Ceramic coated journals. However, the thrust bearing from my knock off blows the Garrett thrust bearing's quality out of the water. My $0.02.
