This morning around 10am I got a phone call from my boss. He told me that one of my servers Alan was killed in a motorcycle crash the night before. I was floored.
Alan had worked for me off and on for 3 years. At the moment he was only working a few hours a week for me, because he was working 2 jobs and had me in the wings.
He was a free spirit, he loved to make silly little noises, loved kids, and was just a fun guy to be around. He was planning on becoming a minister and was a good guy. He had a nephew that he loved dearly, he always had him with him, and taught him a lot of stuff, and some of it was funny as crap. About 3 weeks ago he shows up to work with his bike he had talked about buying. He kept trying to get me to ride it, but I always refused, frankly I was kind of scared of it. I have only riden 125cc dirt bikes, nothing like a CBR600. I love my speed on 4 wheels.
We had exchanged text messages on Friday and I saw him riding his bike by the restaurant on Friday. I go back to reading the messages and just think about how he touched a lot of peoples lives even though he didn't know it. God bless my friend
