View Full Version : Battery drain question
I am doing some work on my car, so I haven't been driving it daily recently. I noticed the battery drained pretty badly so I exchanged it for a new one; but a few days later ran into the same problem. I have a car alarm with the fuse pulled, and my amp fuse is pulled now, but it still drains. Could the ground wires be doing this?
I am also interested in a 1 farad capacitor and new replacement speakers for the doors. What would you suggest?

i'd take it to autozone and have them test the alternator's output... everytime that happened to me, i had to replace the alternator...
luckily, i bought a duralast as my first replacement... the other 3 were free ;]
The alt output is good. I only have the problem after the car has set for several days. While driving it with everything hooked up it can set overnight with no problems. But with it setting and all the accessories disconnected, there is still a draw somewhere. Hence why I need to know if the chassis grounds could be draining the battery. All the grounds are still connected to the chassis and consist of the 2 guage amp ground, the alarm ground and two relays with the alarm, all of which are 16 guage.

It sounds like its grounding out somewhere. Try disconnecting the amp power wire at the battery and then letting the car sit a couple of days. If the problem still exist, it could be several other things. Let me know if you try this and there is no change.
