Correction, hybrid means electric or another fuel/power source. A 351 Windsor engine runs on gasoline. ;)

its a zx2 deal with it! zx2 body, stock interior. just cuz they put a huge engine in it and tubed it out doesn't mean anything. that like saying the V6 swap makes the z not a z anymore

I think a streetable Rwd Zx2 would be nice to have which I don't think is possible with a motor that size, maybe a 13b or even the 2.0 Coworth I was showing everyone would be good options. When I get my house I'm actually thinking about trying a Rwd set up using a Ford 9" rear end which I have 2 spares layin around.

the whole V8 thing to me is pointless I can use the 2.0 Cossy or the 13b and the car would still be able to handle in auto x with the same hp due to the weight being similar to that of the Zetec, V8's are strictly for drag I imo

actually, there are plenty of v8 miatas that still handle great.


the car in this thread WONT handle well because it was built to be a drag car. but the engine is so far back that if you built the same thing with the intention of making it handle well, you could probably get good weight distribution out of it. In stock form the ZX2 is kinda slushy anyways. It needs suspension work to really come alive.

If i had about 10 grand to play around with, I would love to build a rwd windsor based ZX2. With a good corner weighted coilover setup, i bet it would be like a go kart.

unless you use an all aluminum motor :-) and do some suspension upgrades. i know a guy around here that has an LS6 in his miata and it handles just as well as it did with the inline 4. the only problem is traction on those rear wheels! haha

I think it's a waste of time throwing in a windsor motor.. I mean if you're gonna go through all the work to put in a little 351, why not put in a real motor and go big block. 545cid not a problem with a 460 block.

IIRC, they make an adapter plate to mount a Duratec 2.3 on the G5M Transmission. The only thing that prevents the swap is the passenger side mount being different.

And Windsor is spelled incorrectly in the title as the name is derived from the location in which the engines were produced :p

haha i def am familiar with the engine sizes:) my dad owned a 67 mustang coup when he was 18 and i used to hear about it all the time (yes it was not 351 it was the 289). he was always talking about the cars he and his buddies ran. im still learning the Chevy engine sizes though. my room-mate knows those im gleaning what i can from that
