Well here's a question: What are the stock speakers that come with the car? Thanks!
If it matters: I have a '98 mtx

Honestly, ebay or SeRiouszx2 when he joins.
But what is your goals in a system. I've built many systems. From very loud to very good sounding to surprisingly loud for what I was working with. It all comes down to your price range, and your personal goals.
I've ran 6s, 8s, 10s, 12s, and 15s. I plan to run a 4 pack of 5.5" subs in the near future in my red car to get the bump it needs for cruising. My 98 has a 3000rms cadence amp and a custom built 15" Resonant Engineering Se/xxx which is rated for 1200rms. :p
Of course I have other amps and some component speaker sets to go with it but we were just talking subs:cool:

yeah the fronts are 6.5 although some need a little tweaking of the factory hole to fit and many will require a spacer of some sort that can easily be made form wood

If someone with good knowledge on aftermarket systems has some patients, I'd like to talk to them to find my goals. My last system was stolen, completely :(, So now that I have the 2way alarm going in Saturday this week, I need to rebuild my system....
Also, They bypassed my stock AMP when installing the aftermarket, so even when I put my stock radio back in... No sound, but it turns on. I don't know anything about eletrical and stereo's so... :*(

yeas it did come with a "factory alarm" it was not that great and would not be worth putting into another car...you can get a decent alarm for under 100 new...

Hey I'm new to the zx2 world, I found a CRAZY good deal on a ZX2 for my cousin, she just turned 16. Anyway, long story short, it already had a decent pioneer deck and subs in it, so I installed 6.5's in front and 6x8s in the rear.
All sounds good, however, it got dark as I was finishing up, and since she lives about an hour from me I just wanted to finish it up quick. Well, rushing it made me screw up cutting the rear deck material to install the speaker covers that came w/ the 6x8s. I cut my holes offset to one side, and the cut wasn't very smooth. She doesn't even notice, but I'd like to redo it the right way.
Basically, that shit is really hard and the carpet stuff covering it is difficult to cut through without it tearing all up. I bought a new rear deck for $2.00 at the junkyard and I'm just wondering what the best method might be to cut through it cleanly. I assume somebody's done the same before....
Thanks in advance.

i would prob use a new blade in a utility knife and possibly a template
Did you absolutely need those plastic covers? I never use them.

neither do i but some people like them i guess
I just think it's absurd that you would cut a panel of the car in order to put on something cosmetic that ends up looking like garbage because you cut a cover to show it.
It's not so bad in the back. But I've seen it done in the front and it REALLY looks like garbage then.

Sealed all the way then man. I personaly like sealed over any other box style. bandpass sound like poo, ported are very nice, but i think sealed are more accurate.

if you think bandpass sound like poo than the one you heard was not built properly...sealed boxes are no more accurate than any other properly built box
