use a reclaimer machine, (prefered method) or.. using a discontect tool and a towel/old rag, wrap around the line fitting , open and wlak away, do not breath in the freon..

find the Large port where you can add. refrigerant. it has a dust cap on it like a valve stem. and it will be on the silver aluminum tube on the left hand side of the motor. Push and hold with something... I support fukk the earth day.

Well, you are going to have to live on this earth, so you better take care of it.

After you empty the system, you just can't fill it again.
You need to evacuate it, an possibly replenish any lost oil first.
Is the AC broken? Why are you dumping the refrigerant?

Its gonna be done pretty soon. SOme of my lines are rusted through. A flick away from a hole in them. Just preparing my knowledge for when it does.

okay heres the deal...its like mech said...first you need to pull a vacuum on the system to boil the moisture out and rid it of any air, then you need to add the oil that was removed back into it and then you can fill it...if you fill it with out vacuuming it down it will rust and have poor performance...

also r-134A needs no liscense to handle
R-12 does and is very limited

You also need PAG oil for the system

i think i covered all of the bases

Thanks man wish I could make my own vaccum lol but you did cover all base's and it is greatly appreciated

yeah you can have a shop vac down the system for you, it needs to be pulled to like 27 in/hg

Rent a vacuum motor. [Add any lost oil first.]
It's super easy to fill the refrigerant afterwards.

accually it would be easier to add the oil after vac'ing it down because it will pull it in thats how our machine at work does it

mechtech

We have had problems doing it that way . It doesn't always go where it should, and can end up in the gauges or lines.
The factory doesn't do it that way.
You put the oil in first, or risk problems .

idk thats just how our machine does it

First if your system is low you can add a can without vaccing the system down.

Adding oil or refrigerant can cause damage if done wrong. You should not add liquid refrigerant/PAG to the low side, because liquids will not compress and you will damage the compressor. The charge kits you can buy at any auto parts store only allows you to add to the high side. This eliminates most mistakes.

i thought most of them added through the low side..because it helped draw them in...i know if you add too much you can "slug" or hydro-lock the compressor

The charge kits that you get at the auto parts stores do NOT charge through the high side.
Always through the low.
Always.

I vac my system and recharged it works friggin great I replaced everything on the ac system lol one thing I took my ccrm off and the relay had exploded from the right side I tried to put a new one on but I think the breadboard is just fried too so I still have the ccrm fix on but I am going to junkyard in a bit :o)

well good news...did you take it to a shop to vac it down or did you rent a vac pump?

Denny10
04-28-2008, 06:31 AM
I made my own vac pump from a old sphyen pump
