How do you disconnect it from the hub. I undid the 2 bolts on the hanger "if thats what it's called". I also Undid the bolt on the hub. How do you get the end of the ball joint out of the hub, I can only see bashing it with a hammer but what is the easiest way. It won't come out.

Well, you need a press. That is where the shop gets all there money. Do you have a large C-clamp? You can try that. I need to do one of these myself.

Get a picklefork and a hammer that's all you need.

Now that i think about it, I dunno if the c clamp would have enough force. But but one end on the balljoint, and the other on the surrounding area and crank, crank, crank.

I just bashed the hell out of it with a mallet and after the 50th whack it fell. How do I put the new one in now? As the car sits, the hub is still connected to the tie rod and the strut and the drive shaft. Can I put the new one on or do I need to take the hub off completely? I don't have the puller to get the tie rod end out.

You don't need to take anything else off, just connect the new ball joint.

the ball joint has a bolt that stays on. a nut and bolt. and then the bolt+nut that holds it to the hub. u have to have the nut and bolt combo loose and removed for it to be free... not hard.

When you buy a ball joint at least from my experience it comes as that hole assembly so it should be completely off anyways.

I don't take off the hub when I do the trans. I just pull them out of the way and leave the axles in the hubs.

Disconnect it from the hub?
The ball joint connects to the lower control arm, and the steering knuckle.
What part are you talking about?
