with ur hands and some tools... stupid answer for stupid question. j/k i think to take the whole assy off, take the antenna off with a wrench then you need to take the ring with the two holes off and it should drop down

Then just filler and paint eh?

i welded a piece of metal to fill the gap cause the hole is to big for only filler.

yeah id recommend do this before youre gonna paint a car or else youd see the difference of the factory paint and your paint. the hardest one to shave was back bumper cause it contours from the left to the right and from top to bottom. the antenna and rear ford emblem were easy though. people always ask me what car it is cause of the lack of emblems and zx2's are not common where i live.

Yea I also shaved everything. And granted it is kitted but when I was sitting buy it watching a parade a couple older guys were arguing about what it was swearing it was" one of those foreign jobs" hahahaha
I also used a VW Jetta antenna on the roof. Not as good a reseption ans stock but CD's work better anyway!

whats the best process for painting when you shave the emblems and antenna? i have an air compressor and paint gun, but i know they also sell paint made to match our cars... any suggestions?

i think you should paint whole parts. so if youre painting shave the zx2 emblem on the bumper, paint the whole bumber. as for the antenna shave, youre gonna have to paint the whole quarter panel and i guess you dont have to paint the roof as long as your current paint isnt faded and you find a place to stop. maybe the roof drip area, but i wouldnt do that, imo. paint whole parts and you should be ok.

Sand / grind all paint off to bare metal, then hold construction paper on the backside and trace the hole with a pen/pencil.
Cut out paper and transfer it to sheet metal. Cut out and fit in place with a little bit of tape on the backside to hold it in place (if its a tight fit, you can wedge it in w/o tape)

Weld in place taking your time doing tacks every few seconds. If you get it too hot you can warp the surrounding area and then you will need more filler.
Grind welds when cool and then mix up your filler and smear a thin coat over (stay away from Bondo brand products).
Start blocking it down with a ~6" block starting with 80, get it close, then go to 180, make it almost completely flat and then take 320 over it to make it real smooth.

Then spray on 2 coats high build primer, allow it to dry, and sand that with 400, 600, and 800. Then comes spraying your base and clear.

might have to use a grinder depending on your tack welds

this thread didnt show up on my subscribed list till just now.
robend, how does the paint on you car look? can you take a pic of it and post?
what i meant in my last post was this. if your paint looks good, you can most likely get away with just painting the the quarter panel up to the roof drip crease. if your paint is ok, then youd probably want to paint the roof and both quarter panels. if you paint is not ok, then id recommend you paint the whole car if you plan on do the antenna shave. or else you have a shaved antenna and itll look good where you painted and really show how bad the rest of the paint looks. this really depends on how your paint looks right now though. post a pic if you can.
***edit***
if you do this, do what yellow just showed you. good work yellow
