Ok, so long story short I quit my job.

Well, I leave, just cruising down the road with the stereo on (and this awesome new fedora that I got). This lincoln pulls up beside me and I glance over at it. It was a mark 8. I think it is a nice car, just not my style. So I notice the kid has his hat on sideways. And when I say kid, must have been mid twentys.

I think nothing of it, until he revs at me. My first thought "Don't these things come with the old mustang v8s?" Then my second thought. "That thing weighs more than me, and most of my interior is in my living room."

So I pondered for a second or two, then he revved again. So I check, no cars are comming, it's an open stretch, no turn offs for anyone to come out of (only at the intersection I was at). So I give it a little bit of gas, and a second later the light turns green.

I roll off the clutch, get no wheel spin but a somewhat decent launch. He gets epic wheelspin. So I get the jump on him. I'm taking it to about 6k before shifting. At the end of second (why bother with first it was done quick anyways) I am about a car and a half ahead. Third he starts to pull on me a little bit.

Ended up stopping at around 100. I was maybe half a fender ahead if that.

My main thing, is that I thought they were much faster. Now granted, I'm not stock. But I thought those were mid 14 second cars?

Granted, it could have been beat on. But I was proud of myself and my turd. She did good.

Thats why I said I am suprised. I thought he was going to leave me in the dust. Only thing I can think of is that it must have been beat to hell and back.

And no, Connal does not sound like a dog name. It sounds like a people name. I will however accept the chew bone.

The Lincoln should have beat you from start to finish.
His wheelspin killed him at the start, and he probably let off the gas to compensate, and who knows how he shifted his auto tranny.
But I'll bet he is doubting his car right now!

if it was a mark 7 your win sounds right on the money, if it was a mark 8.. i dunno why you beat him, those things are beasts, 15 flat no problem stock, when they get into there 2nd gear around 50ish they really start to shine with that 290horse 4.6 dohc.

Yeah, I figured his wheel spin was going to help me out, but it shouldn't have helped me that much. That is the strange part, he should have left me in the dust easily. The only thing I can think of is that it might have been in bad shape under the hood. Even then it shouldn't have been that close.

Yeah, I don't think it was a 7 midwest. I'm not 100% though. Not a car I am too familiar with.

And mech, what does him shifting have to do with anything? Or do you mean one of those guys that shift from "L" on up?

the 7 would be kind of a medium sized car, and real boxy. the mark 8 is much bigger, with more of a curvy body.

X 1,000,000,000. You beat a bad driver in a good car. Give it to a good driver and it would be like a ZX2 racing my VW under similar conditions.

I know I should have been beaten. Hasn't anyone read that?

I was just shocked that I did. So many negative comments about how I shouldn't have done it from people. Lets make something clear.

I should not have won. For the power difference, and the cars themselves I should have been humiliated in the worst possible way. However, for some reason be it a bad driver, a crimped muffler, or a cup of coffee spilled on the crotch I did. Big deal.

Other than the launch, I don't see how a bad driver equates in any way in an auto. You mash gas, gas makes car go.
