so i threw a P0171 (bank 1 lean) and everyone told me it was the o2 so i went and spent $53 on a o2 then later came on here and saw the first post and to my surprise it was the pcv elbow i replaced it and it purrs like a kitten now thanks
oh and i def got that 53 bux back

alright i have the p0171 code i replaced the pcv valve and elbows (they where colapsed) and all other vacume lines, cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC MAF cleaner. I still have a really low idle and the code hasn't come back yet but i think it will. Any ideas on what i should try next?
How low is the idle? You can clean the IAC with throttle body/air intake cleaner.

The idle is around 500-600 after it gets to running temp and quite offten if i drive it hard and let off the throttle the rpm's come back down really slow.
should i take the iac apart? to clean it?
No. Just take it out. Lube it with a tiny amount of non-petroleum lube. The plunger is plastic, and petroleum products can deteriorate the plastic. I use graphite spray. White lithium grease will work too.

Is another common issue is the belt tensioner failing; which impacts belt performance.. Just wondering if anyone else seen this problem..

1998 Escort ZX2, is throwing a p0304(cyl 4 misfire); and now P0453(EVAP pressure sensor high input), and P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor circuit malfunction, but i may have got a bad one, tried to replace it before and this happened). Not to mention it stalls out now. It also has a weird idle, it will idle fine when its cold, but when it warms up it will idle higher or lower than normal. Any ideas. I wanna say either the pcm needs reprogrammed (because the pcm had been changed by the previous owner) or the pcm that the previous owner got was for an spi engine, not a zx2?
I've had the following changed:
Spark plugs and wires with correct gap
Coil pack
New vacuum lines
Fuel injectors and correct fuel pressure
fuel tank and filter
pcm
timing belt and head gasket
mtx
has good compression, and misfires more when the engine is hot, hot outside and raining
Any ideas?

yea i just bought a 2000 zx2 drove for six mounts with motor shaking at red lights keeps getting worse but now trany started sliping and jerking then it would shift fine and now it does not move at all smoke comes out of trany dipstick
