Just an update on my 98 ZX2 with S/R PCM install. I went back to the junk yard and got a CCRM from a 2000 ZX2 and installed it. It fixed the constant fan running at start up but still had P0340 code. After viewing several diagrams I pulled the PCM and found that a pin had bent on the PCM and was shorted to the pin next to it. I straightened the pin and carefully re-installed. P0340 code is now gone and car is running fine. You can definitely feel the increase in power. However it was not necessary to upgrade from a 4 to 6 wire MAF. It is only necessary when you have A/C. I do not. Thanks to all who replied.

Okay, I got a P0171 on my 99 ZX2, and after reading this thread, I found out it was the PCV elbows on both sides of the hose. After 11 years, they were worn out -had holes and ripped apart when pulled them off. So I replaced the hose itself and also the PCV valve. I also cleaned the MAF sensor. Now, my car will not start.

My car would start fine before I did all this. Now it just cranks but won't start. I can still hear the fuel pump so I've ruled that out as a problem. The other vac lines are fine. I'm out of ideas and need your help. Any suggestions???

Think you should add that the timing belt usually goes around 100k miles and should be replaced before then to prevent a huge disaster. Also the spider gears in the transmission are poop and if you do any hard shifts, burns outs, or upgrade the clutch you will probably blow them up and ruin your transmission.

Since you cleaned the MAF sensor. That would be the first thing to check. Everything reinstalled correctly.

I don't know what "Huge Disaster" you refer to since we have non-interference engines, and throwing the timing belt does nothing except causes us to reset the crank and cam positions and slip the belt back on.
