NE wont have much this year because the greatest Coach currently in the NFL is still molding Miami. That's going to continue to be a problem for NE.

Sources are saying the TJ Hushmanzalidnaingmndfjbnf is out of Cinci...does this mean Ocho Cinco stays?
I'm sorry, but that's really hater talk...

It's going to depend on the way they fill the holes that have been created this year. But with most of their stars returning, and if Brady has a good return year, then NE is still tops in the AFCE. Don't let last season fool you. They went 11-5 with an unproven QB and a lot of holes created by injury... Easily would have taken the division with brady no matter what changes were made to teams in the division.

That's not to say that MIA and NYJ haven't made some improvements and that NE has to work to take the division now... but to think that they are trouble, because the were last year, is underestimating what NE is capable of.

Since the discussion seems to be lively and on topic, I'm temporarily re-stickying the thread. Discussing the draft and 2009 prospects is a legitimate continuation.

TO has seen better days, he's past his peak and his attitude prevents him from even delievering what he has left.

The Colts are going to do fine, they'll win games even if they aren't a legitimate contender. Manning probably has a few years left if he doesn't get injured.

Some fans forget all teams have down years and get upset when a team needs rebuilding and doesn't make the playoffs. The Colts did a good job with a plan to transition coaches. Would you rather accept a few rebuilding years or have to root for a perennial disaster like Detroit ?

Cleveland and Cincinnatti or the Rams aren't much better, Buffalo, Denver and San Fran alwas seem to underperform. San Diego has the talent but never puts it together. All things considered Arizona did a great job at the end of last season.

I think you all are misunderstanding me. I dont think Peyton is done. Peyton probably has at least 5 good seasons left. But with what I have seen in the past season, Peyton is preparing himself for a sideline job (and he is damned good at it). I think that he wants to retire before he gets too old. That is just my opinion.

As for the Titans, I am not worried. I expect us to suck. However, we are bringing in a wide receiver which was a good move and Vince Young is still on the bench which makes me happy. I feel good about our potential but only time will tell. I am not worried about losing Big Al either since Tony Brown did such an outstanding job when Al was on the sidelines this past season.

So, LOTS of moves lately... NE is being picked apart slowly...

Cassel, Vrabel and Scott Pioli to KC
Josh McDaniels and Jabar Gaffney to Denver

    Some others to FA IIRC...

Should be an interesting season for NE... lol
If NE is being picked apart, Philly is running like a Daewoo.

Dawkins gone. Lito Shepherd gone. Correll Buckhalter gone.

Soon to be gone: John Runyan and Donovan McNabb (since TJ Housyamomma signed in Seattle...still no one to throw to).

    It's fun to watch.

Skins making solid moves. Haynesworth, Hall, Dockery is back.

Jason Taylor was just cut, so I expect the Skins to take a better DE in the draft (#13). Brian Orapko would work well. If Andre Smith is still available, I say take him. Bring back Dockery is huge, but the rest of the O-line needs more work and depth.

Thankfully they FINALLY got a good D-lineman. It's been ages...

Dallas is basically the Raiders with deeper pockets. Both teams will be better off when ownership changes.

Note where I said "over a decade

And NE's lost more than just players, although admittedly none that "scare" me being gone besides cassel. So in that regard, they've been picked apart more than the eagles, but I'm interested to see how they fill the coaching holes...

I know he mentioned wanting to go to the Boys - I hope that never happens. He's just about over his peak...

Hater talk? Are you kiding me? I really don't like Belachek or Brady. (If I ever see Brady, I'd give him his respect - he deserves it). However, I really don't like him. I think he's egotistical, and big headed (from the comments and interviews I've seen and heard). I know that the media distorts things, but I'm entitled to my own opinion of him.
On a different note, I really think that Bill Parcells is one of the greatest coaches ever. You see waht he did to Miami, in 6 months, and he's done that with every team he's been with. I just think that Miami is in a better boat then NE.

Yeah, but I thought he said he didn't want to go back to them...even if that meant retiring

Parcells has shown he can make a team better in different roles. Not many successful field coaches can say that. He's had his episodes of intrigue. People don't always agree with him, but over the long run he's improved more teams than he's harmed.

Nor is his job. His job is to put together the staff to win games. He does not do any of the usual coaching duties.

Personal opinions aside... Belechick and Brady are two of the greatest at their positions. Parcells is as well, and you'll get no argument from me there. No one has said that MIA didn't make drastic improvements... To go from 1-15 to 11-5 and division winner is a GREAT and amazing turn around.

I think you're just discounting NE though. Their dynasty may well be over, and that's fine. This season, if Brady plays well, and depending on coaching selections, could see the same or better performance from the team. There is no doubt that points were left off the table early AND late in the season by having Cassel there. The guy did great, and I'm not knocking his performance, but he's no Brady. There's no insult in saying that.

Week three could easily have been different with a more potent offense on the field. It was Cassels 3rd game, and the DEF didn't help there at all.

Miami came out of nowhere with a LOT of gimmick plays. Teams adapted, and NE, with an even worse staffed DEF than in week 3 held direct snap plays to 25 yards. The won't ride that same offense to success this season.

This season will be an interesting year. The AFCE was very tight last season, and very well could be again this year. NE's not a shoe in, but Miami may not be as good as the were last year. Or, they could be better.`
